2003 Acura CL Automatic Not Type S

Hi, I just registered tonight to become a member on this forum. Im going to admit, Im not really too knowledgeable on cars, so Im sorry if some of my questions sound a little stupid. hehe

Anyways, about a year ago I had my friend install a cold air intake in my car. The car sounds great when Im accelerating, and there is a noticeable difference in power than before. However, I would like to do something with my exhaust system so that it has a deeper sound to it. Im not really looking more horsepower, but I just would like it to have a better sound. Im affraid that my car might sound like a weed wacker or too loud, so Ive been hesitant about changing it.

Would I be able to just change my mufflers? I dont want to spend a whole lot of money, just trying to improve the sound. Any suggestions?

first off, welcome. secondly, that's good that you're not looking to acquire more horses from an aftermarket exhaust because you are not going to get any noticeable gains. as for a deep-toned exhaust, i personally have heard and like the Comptech exhaust. then again, you can go back to the main 2nd Gen CL page and click on the big, red link to find out more about your car and exhausts systems.

Thanks guys. There is this one exhaust I like... here is the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ACURA...03825131QQrdZ1

I like the way this exhaust looks. Do you think this would make my car sound really bad?

I don't know about sound man..but damn that will be ugly as sh*t. Do yourself a favor and keep it stock. It will make the car look cheap if you put those on there and they won't fit right.

Any premium model will benefit greatly from changing out the exhaust.

Read this if you want quad exhaust. Pics on the last page, plus a video

I have full exhaust system so it's a lil louder than usual.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=187741

And read this for better power up top.

Thanks for the links. Ive heard magnaflow is really good. Do you know what size I would need? Also if I search on Ebay, how would I know if it fits my car?

^^^^^^^It'll work but you'll probably need some custom piping done to the axle back to get those to fit.

Why square pipes?

An exhaust shop will know what to do when they see the inlet size so don't worry about asking us if it'll fit...

Hehe...aacck...this sounds complicated... I hate to bug you again, but would you send me a few links of magnaflow mufflers on ebay that would fit my car, and would look nice? Also if I need custom piping done, where would I be able to get that done at? Would Meineke, or a regular auto shop be able to do that?

Depends on how much you want to spend. You can get magnaflow mufflers for about $100 a piece and use your existing pipes. Or you can spend $800 and get the greddy evo2 catback exhaust which is the best sounding hands down.

Well since Im still a student, I dont mind throwing down $100 per muffler. If I go this route, would my exhaust still sound a little better?

Any of the Mag muffs will fit your car.

Meineke = exhaust shop

Something that sounds a little deeper, or a slight rumble without that annoying lawnmover or weedwacker sound that some RSX's or civics have. Also something thats not really too loud from inside the car. Just something that I could hear, but not annoying either.

look if your just trying to get a good sound and dont want to customize your exhaust you can just get comptechs mufflers for 670 here
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Exhau...spagenameZWD1V
i would also recommed if you want them just tell the seller that the reason comptechs parts are so
expensive is because they had such a good warranty but now that the warranty is gone the price should go down you can probably get them for 600 and take it to any exhaust place and they should install them for like 50 bucks

exactly comptech is quality and pretty much out of business so if you want these you should try to get them while they are still avaliable

Is that the same type of exhaust you have on your car? Also, is it loud inside the car?

The reason why I like these is because they look very similar to stock, yet they are not! I like the sound of Kyles mufflers, but I dont like the big round tips on them...i want something a little more subtle but still with good sound

Hey guys, thanks all for your help and input. I just bought these today. I bought them because they look similar to the stock exhaust I currently have. Hopefully it will improve the sound a little. Once I get them installed I try to put pix of them up. Do you think I could sell my stock exhaust on ebay?

Someone told me to add a glass pack to it to reduce the loudness. Would that help if I added that?

The guy that sold me my mufflers emailed me and told me the following after I told him I dont want something that will be very loud and abnoxious:

"This is exactly what your looking for.....Just to let you know when you put these on with custom piping make sure you get glass packs(pre-cats) installed to complete what your asking for........if you dont put the glass packs(pre-cats) its going to be alot louder....."

Does this sound right?
