2001 Acura CL-S Oil and Filter Type

Hey Guys,

Going to do an oil change today, and was wondering what you guys think about using the Valvoline Max Life Synthetic Blend @ 5w20? It also came with a WIX filter for a total of $30 at O'reilly's.

I usually just stick to what the Owner's Manual states (5w30 for a 2001, 5w20 for 2002-03). I'm thinking of changing it to a 5w20, since it reaches operating temperatures quicker and causes less wear in the engine between start-ups IIRC (due to the viscosity/thickness). The mileage is currently @ 208k, and has been serviced for oil changes every 3.5k miles for nearly all of it's life, but this current interval is being done @ 5.5k miles. I know it may not seem like a big change, but just wanted to hear you're guys' opinions.

Should I just stick to the 5w30 or go with 5w20?
Also, I have never used any oil filters outside of the Honda OEM ones and would like to have your thoughts on these WIX filters?

wix is good stuff. the oil wont matter with that weight difference. ive used both before and havent had any problems. im at 208k. ive been using motorcraft full synthetic 5w-20 for the last 5-6 oil changes now. no issues.
