These are the details of the race, this is from the Viper board.....

The second Supra really zoomed ahead with it's NOS boost. It appeared that the camera car (Supra) got a lead on the TT Viper, but that they were equally matched up. All fast!

Apparently the TT Viper has had it's boost cranked up to 12psi (from 8Psi?), so I'm sure that another friendly rematch will come up once the drivers secure that private rack track in Mexico again.

Utoh that looks like the Venom 800TT. Kinda rough to be playing with APU Supras from a high-speed start. Looked like the Viper driver sucked at shifting though... notice the one point where he catches up and then drops back again. That sucks.

Any info about this video? Like anyone know what board it's from?

if it was a venom 800, it has an estimated 235mph top speed.

and btw, its a 55,000 dollar upgrade.

I am a hennessey viper obsessionist(?word)

there is no way a supra can beat 2.4 seconds to 60 and 9.9 in the quarter mile unless it has a rocket in it ( or enough to equal the hennessey's 180,000$ price tag)

the hennessey's twin turbo viper engine puts out 833 hp and almost as much torque...supra...no way

the only reason that last supra had an edge was proabbly cuz he has like at least 125 shot of nitrous under his hood and the viper driver was probably easing it.

Honestly i think he would have easily smoked his tires if he downshifted and took off. There is just too much torque/power in that viper not to.

*shrug* Then you aren't in the right places. Try reading www.supraforums.com sometime. There are a lot of highly modded Supras out there, and definitely a handful that could take that Viper. HONESTLY street-legal ones? Probably not. But there are definitely supras out there that are faster than that Viper.

However that footage was inconclusive. They didn't even all stomp the pedal at the same time.

tons of 800-1000 hp supras around??

i know that those crazy cast iron blocks can take insane amounts of boost cuz they're way over engineered but tons of 800-1000hp supras out there?

I know of a few guys around my area with crazy supras, one has over 800 hp. But those things are pretty rare.

I'd say most ppl are closer to 500 or 600 if that.

btw, i live in socal, about 15 minutes from SP engineering. And i rarely see a higly modified supra on the road. I think i see more vipers than i do a highly modified supra. ALthough i do know that there are a ton of highly modded supras out there, i dont get to see them much unless im at a car show or track.

Regardless of how fast they can be made, the Supra is a cool car.....but a Hennnessey Viper is an out of control exotic car, especially an 800TT.

You can make anything fast, doesn't mean everything- as witnessed by this video.

man, that is one special K car....looks like it's been modded to rwd and it pulled a 10.63 @ 130MPH
I actually think I might have seen that car once a couple years ago...in any case, I have seen a silver K car that has been converted to a dragger...full tube frame, rwd and a blownhemi I believe...even set up with 1/4 mile shifters...you know, you just slap each shifter back when you gotta shift up a gear...

After a friend takes the twins out of his '96 and puts in a huge single turbo, he will have over 700 hp to the wheels in his Supra... totally stree legal, no NOS, leather seats, AC, nice stereo you can actually hear... that Supra would take that Viper.
That Supra engine is easy to play with... I wonder how many IS300's are going to get one slapped in it.

Ignorance is bliss. Let me enlighten you:

http://www.to4r.com/toptenhp.html

Not even close to $180k, and at least one proven 9.8 1/4mile right there.

I dunno where you live in SoCal but there are a few running around in Orange County. Theres a black one in Yorba Linda (or Placentia....something like that) that was featured in Road and Track or something like that a couple years back. I think its pushing about 800+rwhp. Of course there are a few down in Irvine; I know Greddy tuned one of them to about 700hp....

OLD NEWS!!!!

JRock i've been seeing you converting to the FAST side a few times now (supraforums.com)

BTW MrNokia...Puleez, Sound Performances Supra has been proven to go 0-60 in sub 2 second times.

I think thats quite an accompolishment for the 6 cylinders to take down a 10 cylinder, plus the cost to build those Supras was much cheaper than the Viper.

World's Quickest/Fastest 6spd Street Supra goes
9.81 @ 153.58mph on a Stock Bottom End!!

SW's TurboImports.com/Performance-Motorsports T72 Supra shocked the import world by running a 9.81 @ 153.58mph on a stock bottom end. The head has NEVER been off this car. This run was made on high boost and an small 70hp shot of NOS. The two previous runs were 10.06@152.70 and 10.02@154.10. These three runs mark only the second time this car has been to the track! This is a full weight, full interior street car which SW took his little girl to school, then 12 hours later, runs a 9.81 @ 153.58mph. We definately need a cage for some more runs, actually, we need a parachute.

The car has an RPS Turbo Kit with a ball-bearing T72, Bullish Racing Intake Manifold, Greddy 3Row FMIC, Custom 3.5" downpipe with custom exhaust dump, HKS 4" Ti Exhaust, HKS 272 cams, Crower Valve Springs and Ti Retainers, TurboImports Big Dawg Fuel system with a Weldon external pump, Weldon FPR, Weldon Dial-a-Flow PWM Pump controller, 850cc injectors, WOTM.com Clutch, HKS Fuel Rail, NOS Single Fogger setup, Greddy Gauges, HKS EZ Boost Controller, HKS VPC, Apexi S-AFC, 18x11 and 18x9.5 custom offset Fikse Aros, RMM rear wing, Wings West Front Lip, TRD Hood, etc. You'll be hard pressed to find a cleaner Supra around.
