Is 1st gear faster than SS 1

For some reason I feel more power when I move my shifter all the way to the bottom and to 1 vs. using 1 in SS. When I floor it in 1 I always peel out and can Feel more power, but when I put it in 1 via SS it don't feel like its getting more power.
It also lets us control 1st gear unlike SS

Is it all in my head or does any one else notice this too.

I know fahad thinks the same way on this cause he always races w/ 1 -> 2 -> d3 and d4

I noticed the same thing. It seemed that the SS1 and D1 are different. D1 seems lower for some reason but I can't prove it.

I'm going to try this at the track ... which up this way isn't until april/may. shit!

Last year my best runs came in SS, as opposed to D3, D4 or D5. I think by using D1->D2->D3 you will be able to hold the rev's in 1st gear all the way to the red line, since SS or any other D setting beside D1 will always shift waaaay before the redline.

The only thing is how much lag is there ... i can time the 2->3 shift in SS really well at the track ... I give the shift on the stick at 7,000 and it shifts by 7300 right before the fuel cut off.

there is definately only one set of gears in your car, the only difference is that you can hold 1st gear in D1, whereas you can't in SS. I dont know if there are any performance issues between D2-D5 as opposed to using the SS mode. Maybe Jens can help?
