18X8 235's rubbing

Does anyone have any suggestions to minimize the rubbage of 235 18 X 8 40's? I have trimmed the wheel wells, and surfaced the back of the rim[pad] to account for the offset of the wheel. The car has Eibach sport springs too. I can't have passengers in the back, and even with my wife in the front seat(she weighs a buck o' five) I still rub in the back under moderate compression. Any suggestions are appreciated.

U are not using the correct offset. Change your wheel to ones with higher offset. Stock is +55.

Is the rubbing due to the position of the wheel (offset), or the lowness of the car? I've heard that the sport springs drop the car a lot more than the pro springs?

empeters,

The rubbing has very much to do with the offset of the rim as well as the width of the rim to a certain extent. The drop does not necessarily play a big part unless your offset is already off. Sportline does drop the car lower, but it does not contribute to the rubbing of the rims if they were to have the correct offset.

if it is rubbing on the inside...try wheel spacers...H&R makes wheel spacers that should fix this problem.

What is the offset of your 18" wheels? You need at least a 48+ offset. If not, you can machine your wheels to have the proper offset.
