15k service - cure for what ailed my CL
Just picked it up from the dealer after having the 15k service and my opinion....they must have switched cars on me.
Whoever said the 15k service was just an oil change is mistaken. It now feels as tight and smooth as the day I first drove it off the lot. It's amazing what having no rattles does to your perception of a car. Everything is perfect about the car now.
Sunroof rattle...gone
Brake shudder...gone
erratic shifting...gone
funny idle like it's going to die...gone
Just the slightest touch of the gas will throw you back in the seat, and this is below 2nd stage induction and VTEC. The brakes feel so much stronger and smooth.
If you're getting near the service interval and wonder if you should do it, pony up the bucks. It was worth it to me!

I told you so ! I am a firm believer that cars these days should be serviced by the dealership, especially during warranty ! I too felt as though I had a brand spanking new car, tight, no shudder, smooth, like new ! :p

For us California folks, I think it's in the neighborhood of $175.00, but I could be wrong.....

2nd page...Maintenance performed-
Overall visual inspection
Lubed all hinges, locks, and latches
Rotate & balanced tires (they did a cross F-R rotation this time)
Adjust parking brake
Inspected brake lines, pads, rotors, and calipers
Inspected front & rear suspension
Inspected inner & outer C.V. boots
Inspected exhaust system
Adjusted accessory belt
Performed Acura vehicle campaigns
Final inspection during road test
Washed and vacuumed vehicle
(other misc. checks not worth mentioning)
The bottom line with tax was $177.19 which is a deal to me if it makes me happy with my car again.

Are you guys sure it isn't because you just got out of the Crappy Integra Loaner they gave you. Every time I would take my Legend in I would notice that it felt tighter and quieter than when I dropped it off. Even when I only had an oil change!

Good deal!
I think my 15k service helped my tranny a bit. It became a tad smoother. I'm coming up on the 30k service and I'm looking forward to it. I have a slight tick in the engine that I think will go away with a valve adjustment. Plus there's lots of other stuff done at that service. I need to start shopping around for a good Honda/Acura independant in Phoenix so I don't have to go to Tucson for this service!

Moral of the story, you really don't need to pay the $175 for 15k service. But hell, if you got the money, it can't hurt. I just bought a $2,000 kangaroo leather motorcycle racing suit and I am gonna spend another $1000 on tires tomorrow, so I have to be a little tighter with my money and can't blow $200 on a service from the dealer that provides perceived peace of mind...

I don't see anything in the list of things they did to your car that is:
1) Worth $175.00
2) Cause your car to be stronger
3) Cause your tranny to work better
Are you sure they didn't give you some wacky weed?
PS - my 30K service was $141.00 and that included tranny fluid replacement. I think that was high also, but since I did 15K and 22.5K myself (less tire rotation) I sprung for it (my overpriced piece of mind).

It was fixed under warranty and didn't cost me anything. I delayed making a special trip to the dealer until my service was due.
Plus, each time I bring it in for an oil change they always do the inspection of CV boots, exhaust, etc... That only takes a few minutes...
Sure, it's just a quick visual while it's up on the rack. The 15k checklist had 38 items on it. More than just a quick look while up there. 3 hours in fact.

Car runs smooth but it always has. For the record my bill came to $200@ ParkAvenue. This did include tranny fluid though.

I too just had my 15k service done. Would have only been about $180, except I had them do a 4-wheel alignment [$89].
The actual cost of 15k maint. stuff was $75, seems kinda of high for routine inspections during a oil-chg. tire-rotation etc.
P.S. I had vibrations on my front wheels & had to get the rotors turned [under warranty].
The maint. seem to help keep things tighter, but should there be things coming loose at only 15k??
Just my thoughts, [never had much to say before now].
