130A "HO" alternator upgrade (99-04 Odyssey)
just installed the 130A Odyssey alternator. a nice little upgrade for CL-S's. www.car-part.com, find it used. i got mine for $75, guys on the 'other forum' have found it for $35 local.
FYI the Odyssey, Pilot, and MDX (years 99-04) should all fit. no pics, but it's fairly simple if you get the right alternator. the model i picked up was a DENSO CSC09.
DIY:
1. undo P/S reservoir bracket, alternator wire harness bracket
2. take out the fan closest to the alternator (makes ingress and egress easier)
3. undo wire clip and bolt for positive wire on alternator
4. release tensioner to get belt off
5. undo 2 bolts for the alternator, slip it out
6. put in new alternator, do all steps in reverse order
My install did not require any modifications (all 02-04 should slip in), but apparently the 99-01 alternators have the plug on the other side of the amp, requiring you to extend the wires about 6 inches. pulley is the same size too.

That Alternator is actually a different newer design, and more reliable. If you look at diagrams between our alternator and the 04 pilot alternator (the one you said fits, CSC09) the internals are all different. looks like its called an SC alternator according to DENSO. So no, it does not look like a stock CL alternator. But should be a worthwhile upgrade, with it being more reliable and higher output.

the main reason for the upgrade on the other forum was because their cars came with delco units that were absolute garbage.

Denso's have definatly always been the better of the two, but the newer odyssey and pilot models definatly have newer, upgraded internals. Found one at a local yard with 60000 miles for 45.00, will be here on wednesday.
