1/4 ET, 0-60 ET diff. in CL-p and CL-S ...

Hey guys, i just got my CL-p finally, picked it up on Friday morning, and I LOVE it. I was just curious if anyone knew the 0-60 times for Cl-P and Cl-S, and also 1/4 mile times for Cl-p and CL-S. I searched but could mostly only find one of the CL-S times. Thanks in advance if anyone can help me!! Matt

You'll soon get many responses answering your question, but just my own personal experience w/ my roomie's TL-P vs. my TL-S .. the Type S sounds faster than it is... the TL-P ain't no slouch. The fun of the Type S is not so much the 0-60 or the 1/4-mile .. there is about a .5 difference it seems b/w the 'S and the 'P .. but the type S to me shines when dropping down to a lower gear to pass someone or gun it into a turn in SS... Also just blasting into 3rd gear at 70mph on the highway is a joy in the TypeS...

i think some guy here ran sub-15 in his cl-p right? i think theres more of a difference from like 30-70 rather than 0-60 between the cls and the clp

I raced many type S's and won plenty of times. It all depends on the driver. The best part is the V-Tec revs a lot higher in the type s and that kicks ass.

i agree that the "P" is no slouch..very similar to the "S"..but only briefly

the Type-S is easily a faster car on the highway, and more fun to drive.

I have had friendly races with TLP and CLP's alike and never lost .

either way...you made a good choice..good luck with new wheels.

Speeds above 70 is where the TypeS shines over the P.

My best guess for you in cool air CL-P 0-60 about 7.0 -7.2
1/4 mile 15.4 - 15.7

CL-S 0-60 about 6.5 - 6.7
1/4 mile 14.8 - 15.2

Then for I/E/H cars subtract about .3 off 0-60 and .5 off 1/4 mile times.

Any other opinions?

let me add:

I was able to do my best run 14.6s at 95.85 MPH with only CAI, spark plugs and heavy 18" wheels and 235/40/18 Nitto tires.

I would guess that 0-60 would close to 6.1s-6.2s.

I know this has been beaten to death, but I ran a 15.3 @ 90.9mph in a bone stock TLP a few months ago.

Well when my CLP had intake, pulleys, plugs, STOCK 16" rims and stuff, WITHOUT header.... fastest i ran was 14.87... then later i actually ran against several TypeS w/ headers on the track with 18" HEAVY rims, quickest was 15.1... I can tell you one thing, off the line, i always lead like 3 cars ahead, but they can pull from behind.... Why i lead 3 cars, cuz of reaction time... but if CLP is driven right, you can pull away of TypeS till about mid 3rd gear..... NOW, i have my headers, not yet to the track, but i think i will see futhur improvment......

P.S. 18" on a CLP will slow down the car big time... so if you want to run fast, 16" stock rims will have the best result.

Technique was running 0-60 in around 6.0 seconds with no CAI/headers -- only 245/40-17 Toyos + SSR Comps...

The 1/4 mile will show the top-end HP, the 0..60 will emphasize the pullies and wheels...

CLS stock 6.4-6.8
CL stock 6.9-7.2

The cams are different (a bit more lift on exhaust ... duration ???)
No dual plenum
2mm bigger intake valves on CLS
Different exhaust (see 2001 service manual).
Lower compression on CL vs. CLS

Don't expect to jump a car length ahead in a 1/2 block with the CLS...
