05 TL-S shifter in 03 CL-S ?

I don't know about those of you with 03 CL-S 6spd's, but I really don't like the look of my shifter. It's identical to the old Honda Prelude shifter (the last gen)! I was thinking of replacing it, but I want to keep the stock Acura look.

Will an 05 TL-S shifter fit properly, and has anybody done this?

Also, will the shift boot stay up if I replace the shifter with one from an 05 TL-S ?

I've seen the TL knob in CL 6 speeds, look good. I prefer the S2000 or TSX knobs, shorter, heavier, better feel, metal/perf leather. I have the TSX knob.

PS I fixed the boot-

Thanks, looks like I have some options. How did you fix the boot?

You put a rubber washer on the shift lever and it holds the boot up. I think the TL knob is a thicker at the bottom. Much better shift feel with the TSX knob due to heavier weight and not as tall as the stock plastic knob.

I just put a 05 TL shifter 6spd knob on mine, fits and looks awesome. It even has the clip on the bottom to hold the boot. I will send you a pic, i have to take some this weekend.

Thanks, I think the TL shifter is the one I like best. I'm partial to the TSX, and hate the S2K one.

I've got the S2K knob and I like it.

I used wire tie straps through the holes in the boot after the plastic bezzel is removed. Also put a tie strap on the shaft of the shifter to hold up the top of the boot. Between the two straps, the boot stays tight and tucked.

You do not need to do anything with the boot. The original knob clips to the boot, and the 05 knob clips right in as well. It looks like it was designed to fit. I took some pics and will have them here for you in a few.
