03 CL-s vs 03 G35

So I was heading on I-85 near Pleasanthill Rd. Going Southbound.

The G35 punches it as he merges and I follow behind him...and then we get side by side. He's in the HOV and I'm on the far left and we punch is from about 60-110... We are dead even for awhile, then when I hit 3rd I started to creep away...then I pulled ahead of him about 1 car length and we shut down and he got behind me...


I wave as he goes on his way speeding down the Interstate and he just stares...

Thats the 2nd auto G35 I took down these last couple days... It feels good.

I can't wait till my SuperCharger

nice man. it surprises me you didn't pull more on him since he's A/T. i pulled a good 2 lengths on an auto from about 15-80 mph. i know you have a few more engine mods than i do. i've just got I/H & Thermobloks. sweet.

i ran with a m/t, we were dead even until 110 and then he pulled away.

I think he went WOT before I did... Cause there was no sequence on initializing the race..

But thats awesome that you pulled that many CarLengths...

My wife has an 03 G35AT and it is definitely quicker than my 01 CLSAT off the line but from after 20 mph the Cl has a noticable edge.

Very excited to hear of you beating a G35.
Are both you guys 2003 and automatic? If so did you guys just WOT or used SS?

I just got the 03 CL-S auto/navi 2 weeks ago. And my friend recently just got a 05 G35 manual/navi. Obviously, he has more money than me. But I was never planning to buy a G35 or Z anyways.

i have a 2002. just a few engine mods under the hood, but it pulls noticeably more than stock. when using an auto, you're better off just keeping in D5 and turning off the VSA. and when racing, you obviously go full throttle.

I've got '03 CLS 6MT, ran a 05+ G35 6MT on the tollway.....we started at about 60mph.....dead even until we hit 100mph I started pulling on him about half a car length shut down at 120mph....only G35 I've had challenge me so far

how are CL-S's keeping up with 04+ G35's when they upped the power to 298HP?..or atleast i thought that was the case...

They also downed the torque by 10. I hear they aren't any faster.

They only upped the power to 298 on the M/Ts, autos are still 280hp

I'm trolling...

Sold my 01 CLS with I/H/E and got an 05 G35 Sedan 6MT. Most CLSs will take the automatic G35s, maybe even the six speed if the driver sux. My CLS ran 14.2, most G35s with bolt ons are doing the same / mid 14s. So far the G35 6MT is much faster car from the seat of the pants feel. With the bolt-ons I have it should run 13.8 / 13.9 at 101-102mph. A CLS would have to be blown or on NOS to keep up (in most cases). If anyone is in Houston I'm up for a race!

The CLS is still a great car--unique on the street IMO. Excellent mid-range straight line acceleration too!

A blown CLS wouldn't just be 'keeping up'...it would be embarrassing a bolt-on G35.

Obviously the G35s have the advantage when comparing 1/4 mile times, rwd > fwd. I think it would be a different story on a roll or on a highway.

It would be close. The CLS 6SPs are equivalent to the G35 in straightline acceleration when comparing stock to stock--maybe a tenth of a secod or so difference. I was thinking automatic slush boxes since that's what I had.

That's why I loved racing G35s when I had my 01 CLS, I won everytime (4-5 races, 1 was 6spd). It's mostly dependent upon the driver anywhere. There's so many variables on the street.

Comparing auto to auto: I was driving my CLS and my wife (who can drive very well) was driving an 05 G35 Sedan Auto. Well, she one. We raced from 20-110, she had about 2 car lengths on me, both of us started in 2nd gear with no errors on either of our parts. My CLS had I/H/E and ran 14.2 @ 96.77. So in this race, the stock auto G35 beat the auto CLS that had a few upgrades.

I'm enjoying getting you guys riled up!

I wish one of you were in Houston so we could backup our smack!

I wouldn't consider 4-5 tenths and 4-5 and 3-4 mph embarrasing since a CLS owner would have to drop over $5,000 in upgrades to beat a stock G35 6MT. You had your Blown CLS tuned well. From what I remember the Supercharged CLSs ran high 13's unless several other upgrades were added with the Supercharger.


But damn, that's a fast Caddy you got there!

Ugh..... I think most people would say Less than 1,500 would beat a G35 6MT with a equally skilled drivers. And most boosted CLs that I seen run low 13's.

Actually now that xspower headers can be had for $150 that makes modding the CL alot cheaper.
