03 CL-S(auto) vs 05 G35 (auto)

So I was headed to CompUSA and I saw a White G35 he was a young guy like me. I think he was about 20 or so and we were headed up I75-N around Jonesboro and Stockbridge...

We get side by side and going around 60... So I put it in 3rd to get his attention and we are a good straight away, but there is a truck in front of me about...10 car lengths ahead...

We punch it and he jumps abt 1/2 a car length and my front bumper is right beside is back bumper...as I approach 6000RPM's I'm reeling him in and then the truck gets in the way so I change to the far right lane which was clear then a Camery cuts me off and then i switch into the middle and get beside him again.. and we punch it again and we are dead even...

We slowed down gave thumbs up and a little chat and He said he was bone stock w/ an Automatic...

I think if tht truck didnt get in the way I could have taken him down or if we started at a 40mph roll in 2nd gear...

btw my mods are: AW Headers, CT Icebox, UR Pulleys, H&R Sports w/ Tokico's, CT Sways

I was runnin w/ my Toyo TPT's and the handing when switching lanes at high speeds sucked cause I'm use to my Proxes 4's.

The exhaust really isn't going to do a damn thing for you, performance wise. Either way, good race, and it sounds like you were gonna pull on him.

I raced my friend stock vs stock to 70mph and it was virtually a tie, both autos and and bone stock. He has a stillen intake and borla exhaust and he beats me now with these mods vs my mods

Yeah, alot of people tell my getting an exhaust allows it to flow alot easier...and get the full effect from the headers...

if you're going to get an exhaust get the hks super dragger. i had these on my car for a few months and i could feel the difference. i sold them to another member and him and his girl could feel the difference as well. i sold them because of the drone at low rpms. drove me crazy.

YES the G35 SEDAN is QUICK with those mods, make no mistake, they are 14.7-14.8 cars stock where we are 14.8-15.1 stock.

His exhaust gives him some nice power, along with his stillen intake. Not to mention he ran a 14.61 in like 85 degree weather and 80% humidity, I ran a 14.74 in 48 degree weather and like 80% humidity except my 60 was like a 2.28, either way its a close race between us depending on who gets the jump

Just resurrecting an old thread...but, just a quickie question for you racing/mod experts:

I have a stock 2001 CL-S (auto of course)...and to beat a stock G35 (say 298HP version), would headers and CAI do the job? Or am I dreaming?

supposedly with i/h/e the cl-s is over 300 hp at crank. but the difference is the TQ. the gap between the J32A2 and VQ35 is in the TQ not HP IMO.

so i would say no, unless you get some FI or some engine work (3.5 block to even out the displacement )

If you have an auto, don't forget after 3rd gear (around 100 mph) you will have though time.

I think CL-S or TL-S is fast up to 100 mph or end of 3rd but once it hits 4th, car doesn't has much pull.

Comtech SC is the answer.
