02 CL S Navigation DVD?
I just bought this car yesterday and it looks like the Navigation has never been updated, but every where I look, it shows "DVDs" are needed to update the navigation..... However, I don't have a DVD player in this car. How can I update the Navigation without the dvd player?

I'm also looking for a front lip but can't find anything and trying to find offset information. I've seen people with +35 but then I see how other people are saying that anything beyond +40 will require the fenders to be rolled and modified suspension. I'm looking at some 18x8. Any ideas?

You'll need a separate DVD player. The navigation one will not read normal DVDs. I wouldn't bother wasting the $180 on a new navigation DVD. You'll get a bit more maps but thats it. It's still using +10 year old routing so getting where you need to go is always much slower than it should be. Buy a $100 stand-alone GPS and call it a day. It'll be 10x better.

I'd swap a new navi unit into it's place but I don't use that kinda stuff enough to make it worth the effort. I use TomTom on my iPhone if I need to get somewhere.

So what new navi unit works and will still allow the a/c controls? If I'm going to have it in the car, it best be functional, whether I use it consistently or not. Will the newer TL navi units work?

No newer one works. I'm saying I'd custom fab up a stand alone GPS in the place of the factory one's screen. I'd lose control of the AC because of it.

Unfortunately, that's not the option I would like to go with. Thanks again for the information though. I'll just update the navigation for now. Found the newest update for only $50 from my buddy at the dealership.

$50 is still a waste of money. You'll see no change in your GPS other than maybe a couple extra roads in some other state in an area you'd never travel.

Well, it seems worth it to me as my neighborhood isn't even on there as it's only about 3 years old. Plus, this summer I will be driving to NYC and then a couple months later heading to Seattle and LA. The updated Navigation will be worth it IMO when it comes down to it rather than losing AC controls and then having another unit installed that may not look as clean. Either way, the DVD update has been ordered.

Trust me, you'll find that it's shit for navigating. I took a trip from Minneapolis to St. Louis last year with a brand new map DVD (had been released the same month) and the way it wanted to route me was more than an hour (70 miles) longer than TomTom on the iPhone sent me. From St. Louis to Chicago, same thing. Over an hour longer if I would have followed the navi systems directions. Chicago to Madison was an extra 30 minutes had I followed it. As I said, it's still +10 year old navigation calculations even with the updated maps.
Getting a stand alone Garmin or TomTom may not look as clean but it's so much better than the crap from the factory.

Its handy in a pinch and if its only 50 bucks for the newest disc then let me know how I can get one too!
But Weez is right, if you compare routes from the navi and google maps, the navi will sometimes take a longer route for some reason even though the same roads are there.

You can always order the newest DVD, make a copy (if ya know how, it's not like copying a normal disc) and send it back for a refund. I ordered the new DVD last year and sent it back when it found it added nothing.

Never seen the Black DVD online. You have to set the booktype which many DVD burners can't do. Has to be the right model and firmware to allow you to set it yourself. Doing this allows you to make the DVD look like it's a DVD-ROM rather than a DL DVD-R.

It'll only work in the following vehicles:
Acura RL manufactured 2000-2003
Acura TL manufactured 2000-2003
Acura MDX manufactured 2001-2002
Acura CL manufactured 2001-2003

Some can and some can't. Has to be the right manufacturer and drive along with firmware. Some allow you to manually set it. Any good burning software should have it somewhere in the options. I've always copied mine and run a backup copy in my car.

Well, I can always turn to a friend that have one of the most expensive CD/DVD/BluRay production PCs I've ever scene. I'm sure he has the right software/hardware to get the job done. I asked him earlier if he can do the DVD-ROM and he said it's no problem. So, there ya go! lol
