01 CLS -- Stock alarm goes off

I have an '01 CLS with the stock "alarm" and no shock sensor installed. Recently it has started to go off multiple times by itself at night and during the day in front of my house and once at work. Sometimes it will go off once or twice in a day. It is very random.

I checked the car and nothing was opened. The hood, trunk and doors were all still closed. I even re-armed the system and started bang on the doors, hood and trunk. I also tried to open each zone and the alarm will not go off.

The alarm will go off if I leave the window open, manually unlock the door and open it.

I have taken it to the Acura dealership twice and each time (and a waste of 2-3 days while being forced to drive a "loaner" Mazda 3) they were not able to reproduce the problem. They checked the sensors for the hood, trunk and doors and said that they are all within spec.

As anyone run across this and does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be setting off the alarm? And "no" I am not setting it off by accident by having my keys in my pocket. I've done that before and this is not the case this time around since the keys are usually just sitting on my dresser when it happens.

TIA

I have that problem as well, but I have a shock sensor. It didn't start happening until I installed the shock sensor so I just charged it to the game.

I had that problem also. It was my door locks. The driver's side door lock was brocken, but the alarm would only go off when I would get into the vehicle.

I would go to the dealer right away for that. Hopefully nothing is broken

I didn't wash the engine but there have been some heavy rain in the area. I, however, didn't drive through any high water.

All the door locks work fine. I would bring it back to the dealership but they would probably come back with the same diagnosis as before..."can't reproduce".

I am surprised that the car's computer doesn't keep track of which zone caused the alarm to trip either.

Do you think that this could be related to RF interference? If so, does any one know what frequency our alarm systems use?

There's probably a faulty door or trunk open/close sensor (switch).
