01 CLs Auto v 328 5sp

A 328 coupe cut me off as we approached the Sawgrass expressway so I changed lanes and pulled right up to him at the stop. The car had a stock exhaust and appeared to be driven by a teenager. We made the left on to the ramp and floored it at the same time. I had 3/4 of a car on him as he shifted in to second (you could tell it was a stick by the way the front end lifted and the car surged forward.

As we merged off the ramp on to the highway I had several car lengths and was doing 90. At 110 we were about to hit traffic so I shut it down. He passed me shortly after still on full throttle weaving in and out of traffic.

I had 4 to 5 cars on him when I shut down but I thought I would have beaten the bratwurst burner by more. The top end on the beamers is strong even with the 328.

The ending would have been considerably different if it had been a 330 stick or auto.

hey nice kill there. what mods do you have?

i've raced two friends in their 328's and smoked them both. that was with just my headers. what i did notice is that if you're doing freeway speeds, it's a little harder to pull on them cos as you said, they do good at higher speeds. you still should've pulled on him more.

My firend used to have a 5 speed 328 and we used to race all the time. I used to beat him so badly and on the roll the beating that i gave him was even worst especially as the speed increases. They only launch fast because of there rear wheel drive and manual but as the speed increses its no challeng and i raced him when i was stock.

My mods are a gutted intake resonator, K&N drop in filter and a UR crank pulley.

I have clocked a 14.7 with my Gtech performance meter. I have timed a 14.4 in my wifes G35 so my Cl is not a slug.

I guess I should have beaten the beamer by more than 4 or 5 cars...

The 330 Beamers are quicker in stick form. Either which way you did well as the 330 - CLs posts I have seen have the 330 on top both auto and stick.

What kind of headers do you have??

I'm not surprised with the outcome.

Even though I never raced a 328 with my CLS I did take one on with my 2003 Odyssey minivan a few months ago, we were dead even from a slow roll (maybe 20 mph) to roughly 80 mph. He was stick and I was carrying 4 pple in the van

We were racing for the highway merge and neither of us took an inch on the other. I had to let him through first on the ramp though as my wife was screaming louder than the 3.5 ....
