this is probably one of those typical n00b posts where its been discussed to death, but i searched and didnt find anything...so apologies in advance

I have the stock 17''s on a new '06 tsx, and i feel like the car might handle better if the tires were a little stickier and wider.

how much wider can i go, if at all, on the stock rims?

i'd like as much more tread as possible without having to drop the stock rims.

Wider tires cause more tramlining. Just sticker tires will do the trick. Check out my review on the yokohama Avid V4's. The Avon M550's are really good too.

THere's a guy who put 235-45-17s on stock rims. It's not recommended, but it won't really hurt anything. This is a good size as it matches the stock diameter fairly well.

Alternatively, there are always people selling their TL rims/tires which are 17x8 w/ 235-45-17s and it fits the TSX.
