What 235/40/18 Tire should I get?
I am looking to get new tires for my Ron Jon Inspyre's that I am about to order. However, my one stipulation is that they need to last a long time. I don't want a tire that will wear outits tread in 15,000-20,000 miles. I want something that will last about 40,000.
I was looking at the Proxes 4 and the Falken Ziex 512's, but not sure if they will last as long. I want good traction, but not total all out performance summer tires, as I want these to last 3-4 summers (they will only be on the car from May till September).
Anyone have any opinions or good suggestions?
Oh, I am not going to lower my car, but I heard the Ron Jon's have magic lowering capabilities (meaning: they don't look bad not being lowered)

I love the Falken Ziex 512s though the Toyo Proxes 4 is also a great tire. The Falkens are rated 360 for tread life and the Toyos are 300. I have the Falkens on my Integra and they worked great in the snow/rain and dry roads. My bro has them on his WRX and he also loves the way the handle in all conditions. And let me tell ya, they're very quiet on the roads unlike other tires that I've had, ie. Pirelli P7000 Supersports and Kumho Ecsta Supras. Plus they're cheaper than the Toyos.
Oh, one more thing. I just purchased the Falkens in 18s for my TSW Volcanos

Nice!!
Those wheels are awesome. I was leaning towards the Falken Ziex 512's. They are really cheap too!
I am driving up to Boston on Thursday, but I won't have these by then. Hopefully I will have my 500/1 and my 300/2 installed before Thursday so I don't have to drive 5 hours without a radio!!!!
I think I am going to go with the Falken's. Any other inputs?

So, my offset should be +55?? Wasn't sure what it should be for the Ron Jon Inspyre's on 235/40/18's. I don't totally get the offset stuff, just vaguely.
Thanks
Thanks

When the stock offset is 55mm on 7" wheel, to keep the same
wheel centerline on 7.5" wheel the offset should be dropped .25".
.25" is 6mm. So ideal offset for 7.5" rim is 49mm, 48 or 50 will do.
If you want to move the wheel out a bit further, 45 offset would do on a
7.5" wheel. I think some people have run 42 offset on 7.5" wheel, I would
not do it, 45 min.
On 8" wheel the offset should be 1/2" less than stock, 1/2" is 13mm,
Offset for an 8" wheel should be 42mm, 40 offset would do.
You also have to consider tire clearance to the strut when working with
wheel width and offset.

Thanks. Now I get it.
So I should be 100% fine with the 18x7.5 Ron Jon Inspyre's with 235/40/18 Falken Ziex 512 ties on them. Now I am getting excited.
Do I just have to call Ron Jon to order these? I didn't see an order form or an online store on their website. Plus, is it free shipping for purchases over a certain amount?

Are you guys sure that the Falken Ziex 512's are a good tire? Besides from this forum. Reading these reviews doesn't make me very confident about these.
