The 18x8 +40 will stick out slightly past the front fender I believe, 19x8 +42 is 2mm better, so maybe even w/ the fender. I have 18x8 +45 235/40/17 TL wheels and they are very flush.
I've said it before, rubbing is dependent on 2 things, your 1) wheel/tire sizing and 2) drop. So a 19x8 +42 will work w/ a 2" drop, a 19x8 +50 will be able to drop much more. So most wheels will "work" but you'll get a better drop w/ a higher offset. You can also use significant camber to tuck the wheels in more to achieve a lower drop w/ lower offsets, see vwong's ride.

Hopefully it won't rub.

Has anyone tried using a 235/45/17 tire on a 17 x 7.5" wheel? I was thinking of doing this with the TSX A-spec wheels, but was wondering if the tire would be too wide. My guess is that this would be ok. The stock 215 mm wide tires are on a 7" wheel, and the 235 would be 20mm wider which is 0.79". So I guess the tires would bulge about by about 0.29", which doesn't seem too bad. Does anyone have any pics of this size tire/wheel combination?

Hi to everyone!
I need some help about fitment.
My car is Honda Euro Accord'04 (similar to TSX).
Finnaly I'm ready to buy new wheels for my baby...
It's Antera 349 18'-8' +45. They are great, isn't it?
My suspension is stock.
Question: Do they fits with tyres 225/45/18? 'Cos 40 profille
is too small for me. I don't want any rubbing - even when my car is full of weight.
Thank's for a help!!!
Best Wishes...

Advice wanted...
235/45-17 .....4.2in .......12.7in ....25.3in ......79.6in ..............796 ..........-0.5%
It seems that if you want to go wide, this is the way to go, as it's closest to stock circumference without bumping up (or down) the rim diameter.
I want to do some weight reduction, although I live in CT, and the roads are crap, so I can't go too light, as I'd bend a rim on the first day out. I've always been a fan of OZ Racing wheels, and was considering the Supertourismo GT with a 7.5" width (I don't think they come in 8"). According to tirerack, they have a +50 offset, and weigh 20lbs each (4lbs less than stock), which is fine by me. Do you think they can accomodate 235mm wide rubber? Do you think the smaller offset, plus the wider rubber would cause rubbing if I were to get coilovers and drop it about 1" or so?
Less sidewall is always a good idea, but it seems in order to do that, I'd need to go 18", and that means extra weight. I also noticed that the RealTime folks are running 17s with 235R40, which would make for a much smaller circumference (basically a mismatch for daily driving).
So is it worth it to go 18" so I can get a smaller sidewall (therefore better steering feel)?
Oh, and yeah, I'm new here. It happens. Hi everyone!

First of all, let's cover the OEM equipment specs:
Tires: 215/50-17
Wheels: 17x7, +55mm offset, 5x114.3mm (5x4.5") bolt pattern, 64.1mm centerbore
Tires: 215/50-17
Wheels: 17x7, +55mm offset, 5x114.3mm (5x4.5") bolt pattern, 64.1mm centerbore
i'm thinking of installing the following:
tire - 225/45/17
wheel - size: 17x8; offset: +42; backside: 5 1/2; bolt pattern: 5x4.5; weight: 14.3lbs.

Personally, I'd just go with the 215's.

Would this tire be best on a 17x7.5 or 17x8? Probably a 45 offset. Would this stick out of the wheel well?
Thanks

hey guys, got a quick question, just picked up some enkei rpm2's and have been reading up on centerbores. Now i know that the enkei's are 73mm centerbore and the tsx 64.1mm. Now do i still need to get centering rings or if i tighten the lugs the correct way with the rim off the ground, would i be in the clear with vibration? Heres a link i snagged off google. Do you have to get a specific manufacturers wheel center spacers? Or can i get something like this? or do i need them at all? I really want to make sure i get this done correctly and not have problems once my rims come in. Help is greattly appreciated.
