Tire Question
I have 235/40R18 tires on my tsx right know with 18x8 TSW rims.
I like them but the are to lowpro for my wife. She keeps curbing the rims
and complaining about road noise/ride.
My question is will 235/50R18 fit on the tsx?
Will this help with my problem?
Thanks

here's a link to help you in teh future.

you can find other tire calculators on google using the words "tire calculator"
i dunno much but ill give this a shot.
ahem
from what i learned in the past (please correct me if im wrong) since you are comparing the same width tires, but a larger 2nd number (40 vs 50) the profile will be bigger on the 235/50 tire.
thus throwing off your speedo by making it read 7.3% slower than actual speed.
but would it help lessen noise and curb rashing? maybe a little (not too sure but the trend is lower profiles = noisier... usually) but thats not how i woud go about things.
imo, i would just get better tires that have less noise issues and curb rash protection (or whatever it is called)
GL
(if im wrong with my info in anyway, please let me know, still trying to learn)

Do not go with a 235/50/18 setup as it will throw your speedo off by a significant amount.
If you are concerned about your wife curbing the wheels, then you need a 7.5 width wheel running the 235 tire with at least a +50 offset. This wil provide sufficient tuck that it will reduce the odd that your wife will curb the wheels.
Since you probably do not want to buy new wheels, I think you're better off buying the new KPTechnologies mirror down module. This will drop the mirror down when you put the car in reverse and allow you to more easily see the curb.
