Which of these?

Alright guys, I need new tires and want your expert opinion on the following tires:

Yokohama AVS ES100

Yokohama Parada Spec-2

Nitto NT-555

I currently have the Nittos on my car, but wouldn't mind making a change if the performance was better.

What do you guys think? Chime in if you've had any of these tires on your car.

I'm using the ES100s right now and don't like them that much. They're not very quiet and don't ride too well. However, due to its stiff sidewall, the turn in is pretty crisp.

I'd get the Prada out of those 3, but just b/c that's the only one I haven't tried yet. Plus, the tread pattern looks good.

I was really happy when I first got my ES100s, and I'm still amazed at the grip and turn in they provide, especially for the price, but I agree with AZ; they are noisy (and have gotten noisier as the miles have gone up), and they are pretty stiff.............

For grip alone the Yokohamas are hard to beat. Of course as many other members have mentioned, it comes as a compromise to road noise.

I have used both the Nitto 555 and Yoko ES100. Didn't like the Nitto at all for poor wet performance. The ES100 is great but noisy. Now I have the Michelin PS2 and like them a lot for the performance, quiet ride and light weight.

Wow, surprisingly the Parada Spec-2 and CCC's GoodYear Eagle F1s rank pretty high.

Since people have recommended against the AVS100, I'll go with either the Parada or the F1s. I'm not saying that they're bad tires, just something I wouldn't go with.

I also want a change from the Nittos that I have right now.

Omar,

Are you going w/ 225s or 235s? Go 235s as that would match the stock diameter better, provide more rim protection, give more grip, and make your car look even more slammed by filling up the wheel well more.

That's what I was thinking about doing. But then I was worried that the tire may look like this / \ instead of like this | | right now.

BTW, are you coming to the meet?

I won't be able to make it this time, but I'm really curious to see what you and Kevin have been up to with your cars. I'm thinking about going w/ a Tein Flex set up, but want to check out the Tanabe and Buddy Club set ups for comparison.

Well heck, we can try to meet up before the meet so that you can ride in our respective cars, esp. mine before I get the Tein Flex. Just PM either of us.

G, you're more than welcomed to do a testdrive on my car whenever you're in the OC area. Just give me a buzz on cell. The more I ride in my BC, the more I love it, I've been stiffening up the ride quality ever since I got it and planning to keep it hard for a while!

I've got the F1's and I am very happy with them. Haven't put that many miles on them(approx 5000) so I cannot comment on wear. Grip is very good and they are much quieter than stock tires. Only thing I noticed is that they like to pick up gravel, etc. when driving at slower speeds. Don't take the car out in the rain so I cannot speak to wet traction

Thanks for the positive review. Seems like I might be leaning toward these now.

I'll probably end up getting them a little before Christmas, so right around the same time you get them.

Nittos are probably the hardest compound of them all. I didn't search the net, but usually Nitto is that way. With that being said, the Nittos will last the longest, but the ride will suffer, being a harsh ride, especially with winter coming up.

The Parada's are really soft, and will not last as long. Also you will suffer from a lot of road noise from the compound being so soft.

My vote is the ES100's from your three choices. It's probably the most intermediate tire you have looked at.

Go to www.tirerack.com or www.discounttiredirect.com and search tread wear ratings on those tires. That gives you the type of compound tire, soft to hard, and should give you a bit more insight on what to expect from a tire.

Thanks CMF!

I actually decided on the Goodyear Eagle F1s after reading JTso's thread on them.

They seem to be the best rated (by Car and Driver magazine) and also from feedback on tirerack.com
