Tein SS issue?

I'm hearing alot of noise coming from my tein but I heard from few saying that it is normal to hear that clicking noise, well not really clicking but more like my suspension is about fall out or something. Is this normal or my sus is going out?

edit: late to class so I couldn't explain it more in detail...

I had that on my Tein Basics and when i would spray some silicon spray up in the top mount area (where the rubber is) it would stop. I think its just the rubber making noise when it gets compressed. It only happened at certain temperatures....could be it!

Make sure the spring is seated properly in the rubber upper mount.

It was more of popping noise or clucking. I just did quick research and some said that they had similar problem and some didn't so I guess I'm on the bad luck side.

It was done by prof. so I'm sure they are seated properly. I guess I just have to deal with it.

my right rear tein basic coilover does kind of a honking going over bumps slowly. at higher speeds i don't know if i just don't notice it because of road noise or if it just doesn't happen. this doesn't sound like what you're experiencing.

I was probably the biggest skeptic of TEIN coilovers but I got them because the Tanabe's were on backorder.

I've had my Tein's for almost 2 years, they are perfect. They are absolutely SILENT, which is how they should be.

Tony, I would take it back to whoever installed them and have them re-check everything. Something is not right.

My Japanese Friend, Jun, from Axiom MotorSports installed mine and he did an excellent job.

I've noticed some recent squeaking in the rear of the Tein SS's coincident with the change in weather to cold/damp. Prior to that they were perfect for a year.

Do you also have an after-market sway bar installed? If so, that may be the culprit rather than the shocks.

I have had to re-grease the bushings once a year. A few weeks ago, I heard them creaking, pulled them off, and was shocked that they were practically bone dry. After re-greasing them, everything was beautiful again.

Also, when the weather gets cooler, the grease is less viscous, so if it isn't already covering the entire surface area, it will make some noise until it warms up and distributes itself more evenly. At least that's my experience.

You need to review the installation. There should be no clicking or clunking noises whatsoever. Many times we find it to be a loose bolt or nut.

Unfortunately you really cannot be sure of that. I would take it back and start asking questions. I am amazed that a customer would "just have to deal" with a noise that "sounds like the suspension is falling out."

With cooler temps the oil inside the shock becomes more viscus. As the oil travels through the damper piston orifices some sound can be heard (not unlike the sound a squirt gun makes as water exits the nozzle). This is relatively normal and is in no way indicating that the suspension is faulty or going bad.

I have not been able to substantiate these claims that greasing will solve issues of noise. I tend to think that people apply grease as a preventative measure but the grease actually causes friction (ie: noise) as it breaks down and gets dirty. I always recommend to follow the manufacturer's instructions. Id they say to use grease, use the one that comes with it. If not, don't use it. We do not have any issues with noisy sways. The only other factor we have not had a chance to sample is climate.
