224/40/18, so they fit a little better w/ the lower profile and tucked in a bit.
yea, the seat doesn't move even w/o that bolt hehehe.

you owe me scissor! jk

isn't the ride so much better?!?!

stock shocks + pro kits < tein coilovers.

it's really not.

how adjustable is the SS?

the flex has 16 way adjustability and pillow balls.

i think that is the only diff.

i use to have mine set full soft - but it's too bouncy that is relative of course.

i have mine set of 12 front and rear now.

much nicer and tighter.

vwong, what's that small spray can next to the wrenches? I don't remember seeing that with my kit.

LannyM, did you get that spray can with your kit?

16 way as well, same as the flex. I have it at 14/12 right now, still messing around with adjustments, too bad I can't do it on the fly 0/0 is bouncier than stock shocks

JDM anti-rust spray maybe? I thought mine would come w/ it, but maybe US specs don't.

Just FYI: The rust inhibitor should be reapplied every three months or so.

You're talking about this one?

I'll have to try that; even the tech from Tein didn't mention that you could lower that way.........

Yup. Loosen that perch, raise it higher. Then grab the threaded body and just turn it. I think turning to the left is shortening the length (therefore lowering the car), and turning to the right is increasing the length (therefore raising the car).

vwong - JDM spec Flex (rust proof included)
dzuy - JDM spec Flex (rust proof included)
JTso - ?? spec Flex (rust proof not included)
LannyM - US spec Flex (rust proof not included)

So JTso, what is your Flex? JDM spec or US spec?

When adjusting ride height on these coilovers, is there a way to make sure you are adjusting the height the same all the way around or the same height on both the front or both the rear?

Are there markers or tick marks on the threaded body that tell you how much you have raised or lowered your car? Or, do you just park on a level surface and measure your ride height from the ground to your body?

just measure from the bottom of the perch using a tape measure.

Okay, got some info from Tein USA regarding the rust inhibitor.

Our Flex application do not come with a rust inhibitor spray due to DOT regulations in the US. However, some applications special ordered from Japan include this spray but not all. Thank you for you interest in Tein High Performance Suspension Products.

Best regards,
Sales

It's probably not DOT approved because it could act like a lubricant and might cause the lock nuts to loosen while you're driving. I think the chances of that are pretty small so the DOT is probably just overreacting...

It's either that or the DOT is concern about excessive oil dripping down to the pavement or somehow get onto the brake components.

Hey xizor,

Why did you decide to go with the Tein SS instead of the Tein Flex?

mostly price, $400-500 difference with not too much difference in performance from the specs. w/ the flex you get stiffer spring rate, spring preload and pillowball mounts. i didn't want pillowball mounts, and the others I could live w/o including EDFC. maybe one day I'll upgrade to flex, but i'm very happy w/ my SS. the drop is very low if you choose and they're quite comfortable.

Earlier in the thread you said MrHeeltoe got you the Tein SS and some Hawk brake pads for $1000 shipped. How much would it have been if it was only the Tein SS that you ordered?

That looks GREAT! Is that with the standard out of the box set height or did you lower it some more?

Btw, what's with the skid mark on the pavement at the rear? did you do some stunt driving with your car?

I don't know what the OOTB height is since I had to assemble them. I just started by lowering it to the bottom thread and kept adjusting up. Its rubbing right now in the front on dips so its getting raised a little next week.

strangely its from tire shine. I sprayed it on my wheels the residue leaves marks that'll wash away later. You can kinda tell there's 4 marks there where I normally park.

Silly question... is there a left and right side for Tein coilovers? I didn't see it in the useless instructions, but now that I hear the A-SPEC and Koni's have a L and R I'm not so sure. Everything fit fine... please say no, or hopefully I was lucky.

don't know, I wish it were soon... but HOndata will probably put me over budget for the year. its only going to get harder since I'm getting married. Someday I'll be rockin some GT-V's, I want to retire the SSRs to racing only.

Yes, there is a left and right side for the front due to the upper mounting holes for the strut bar but not the rear.

well for the SS you use the stock upper mounts, so depending how you assemble it the left upper mount should be on the left side. if there's no difference in the shock or body I'm a bit relieved.

Yes, you are correct. I was referring to the Flex that comes with the upper mounts. There is no left or right difference for the Tein SS or Basic.
