Tein Basics Installed......Wheel Options?

Install-
I finally installed my Tein Basics yesterday and all I can say is WOW! First off, if any Noob who thinks they can't do the install, or is thinking about trying it, you can def do it yourself. However, my friend is a mechanic and had some SWEET tools that really helped. He had a snap-on cordless 1/2" impact wrench that was a life saver along with a snap-on breaker bar and the locking ratchet wrenches. It took us about 5 hours to do the install with a half hr break and raising it up and adjusting it twice. So if anyone that is thinking about, it really isn't that bad and I have TONS of documents and pictures that I put together from the SEARCH feature on the forum and put it together as a nice little manual. On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being the lowest, I would go with about a 4-4.5.

Ride Quality-
I took it for a ride at the height Tein tells you to set it at and all I can say is between the tein's and the comptech rear sway, the car handles AWESOME!! Turns, on ramps, cornering, and just basic driving feels sooo much better and more controlled. As for the ride quality compared to stock which is a big question, this is without a doubt VERY close to stock. My mechanic friend even was very impressed with them. I had the Eibach Prokit on the stock stuff (which I will be selling soon) and the ride with the Tein's is just amazingly better. Even pot holes really aren't that bad either, and I live in PA....so we have a lot of them.

Wheels-
So I currently have chrome 17" Edge style 262 wheels that came with the car that I do like however, winter is coming and I want to take them off for the snow (if I decide to buy new ones). I have the original wheels but two of the wheels are in VERY poor shape and have severe scratches on the whole outer lip. So my question is, do you guys think it is worth it to try and buy either two new OEM wheels to match the good two, buy a whole new set of 06's for around the same price, or keep the chrome ones on during the winter with a lot of polish and then try to get nicer wheels in the spring with new tires? I kind of want 18" but I don't want to spend a crazy amount of money on a new set of wheels and tires because I already have some decent ones. I'm just looking for some suggestions.

Again, thanks all you guys that do the DIY threads and just provide a lot of knowledge on this forum. Also, Marus from HeelToeAuto is awesome to work with and will help you out with anything you need! Great guy, I will def buy from him again!

Another member to the Tein club! It feels like a race car with the RSB and the coilovers. You don't even have to slow down for turns anymore!

Cool, I have one question though, for anyone who installed coilovers first, did you find it necessary to get Rear Sway Bar upgrade? Some say Coilovers itself would do the job of reducing body roll and getting RSB afterwards doesnt make too much of a difference. Thanks for the input.

I went over the railroad tracks this morning on my way to the train station for work and the car handled those like a champ!! These things are really nice and ride comfort is def not far from stock even on bad surfaces.

I have SS's and I used to run the Tein H. Techs in stock, and i can say the difference is night and day.

Congrats on your upgrade.

Now to anser your question. I'm guessing you have snow near them parts, so for winter I would just stay with the "scratched" stock wheels, and when spring comes around slap the chromies back on.

That is what i am going to do, but i guess i just don't like the idea of putting two pretty badly scratched wheels on my car. I know its only for like 3-4 months, but i don't know.

I like the chrome ones i have now but i really really like the Konig Trouble rims!!!! You think they would like good on my SSM 04??

Yea, i think you right. I thought it might look nice since i have a SSM, but it does really blend in. The pic is kind of shadowed on that side of the car, but not as wild about it now....

thanks xizor

huh, the wheels def look better on a TSX! I think i'm going to keep looking.

Man Xizor, you really do have a butt load of wheel pictures!

I'm going to price how much the wheel repair shop will charge to fix my two curb damaged wheels and go from there. If its really expensive, i think i will either just keep all of them and just suck it up that the two are scratched, or try and sell the good two and buy a new set. There were some cheaper sets of 06 wheels....you wouldn't happen to have a pic of an 04 with 06 wheels too would you xizor?

Oh yea, i have been looking at that a lot recently trying to see if i see something that persuades me to spend more money that i don't have...lol. I didn't see a 04 with 06 wheels on there, because it is primarily aftermarket wheels only, except for a few TL wheels and such. So i figured i would ask if some one had one.

Thanks though!

I don't have any pics of a 04 w/ 06 wheels.

its probably not possible to sell only 2 of your wheels, you'd have a hard enough time finding another person that has the same wheel and size who would take them

yea, i thought about that. There is some one selling two wheels that would be perfect to replace the ones i have but he is charging more for those two than the for the whole set of 06's. That is why i would just go with the 06's instead of replacing the two i have. I am going tomorrow to get a price for repair and go from there, so we'll see.

Thanks for the replies guys!
