Spring Compressor?

To all those who installed their Tein Basics and SuperStreets, what spring compressor did you all use? I am looking to purchase a cheap one so I can lower my car more. Links would be helpful. Thanks!

I didn't even need a spring compressor cuz i bought the upper mounts instead of ripping apart my aspec suspension which is somewhat scrwed up in 2 shocks well one strut and other might be leaking.

Don't buy. Rent/borrow one from your local autoparts super store such as AutoZone.

i have tanabe springs on my car and i didnt use a spring compressor at all =/
i took out the whole assembly and laid it between 2 tires on the ground so shit wouldn't fly all over the place when i took it apart.
and then put my drop springs on. the rears went back together easily, but in the front i had to have a buddy press down a little bit so i can get the top nut on there.

shipping can be a bee-itch here though, so get a few tools and if $100, I think shipping is free. You can always use more tools.

^^I've personally used a set like the first ones, but I've not used a set like the second. Just a word of caution... These both work, but they are far short of a proper spring compressor. However, the large compressors cost quite a bit. Just be careful and ALWAYS do a visual inspection before use. If you notice anything wrong, worn or even a hairline crack, DO NOT use them. As its been said before, if a spring decompresses, it has the strength to go through you.

I installed H.Techs this past July using the following compressor.

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...0070515x00001a

It costs more, but it was my personal experience that it was easily found at my local Sears store, had a more substantial feel both in function and safety, and was quite easy to use.

Advanced auto part does have spring compressors, that is where I rented mine to put in my camber kit.

You just need cash, or even a credit card - and you are good to go.

Those are the same you can rent from an Autozone type place. Though they say Craftsman, they're all the same. I've used these as well, on 2 occasions and they do work perfectly fine.

Any of those shown will do, but the cheaper you go the less uses you will get out of it.

You can shoot the fronts apart if you know what you are doing, that is the only time you really need spring compressors. The rears come apart and they all together fine without it.

But that being said I can supply the coilovers fully assembled with new hats in place taking away the need to take apart the shock assemblies altogether, and making a switch to stock a lot easier in the future.

I say best bet go with marcus I was going to buy the upper mounts from him, but i didn't know earlier.

dealer price = same price as his although i bet ordering from marcus would have saved me the wait for parts and the missing parts.

I forgot all about these. These are the better ones out of all that have been posted.

^^and cheaper. I just found out that my local advance auto parts does rent out a spring compressor so I will try that out. If it doesn't work I will probably purchase one of the above.

also, I am using the compressor to take pressure off the spring seat and locking nut so I can lower the rear suspension. I already have the superstreets installed.

Then I think the other ones would work better. The one vwong mentioned may not work well in the wheel well. Not sure of the size of it though.

Why do you need a spring compressorto lower the SS'?

I just use the wrenches and it lowers with no problems.

If the height is set higher you might need them. But from Tein's recommended setting or lower you don't.

Yeah, I saw him do it while he installed my tein SS. Didn't seem scary as all the stories I've heard (about people trying to avoid using a spring compressor), but Marcus knew what he was doing
