smaller wheels better gas mileage?

has anyone put smaller wheels on their car and it gotten better gas mileage? mine came stock with 17"s and i think 15"s would be better on gas.. but i figured some one here had tried it... im getting like 25.7 mpg on average.. according to the dash thingy.. is that thing even halfway accurate?

No. Reducing the overall diameter of your car will effectively lower your final drive ratio, so your speedo might say 60 but you might be doing 55. So maintain real world traffic speed, your car will run in the higher rev range. Using lighter wheels help more than smaller wheels.

Reducing the WIDTH of the tire will give you better gas mileage. And 15" wheels would not fit the TSX, only 16" and higher (and even those not all fit) because of the size of our breaks.

Also inflating tires more will give you better gas mileage, but ride quality will go down and handling too.

+1 on the oem brake specs.

i'd just go for lightweight 17" wheels. perfect reasoning for enkei rpf1's.

+1 for lightweight 17s AND lightweight tires as well. Tires are overlooked as a weight component. Don't forget that they are furthest from the axis of rotation, and the further weight is from that axis, the more work it takes to turn it. Tires have a great effect on this.
