RX8 wheels - too wide??

i was just wondering if anyone with 18" wheels could help with this...

i'm thinking of getting some rx8 18" wheels, but was wondering if they were too wide?

from what i gather, the rx8 wheels are 18x8.0 +50.

i'm guessing an offset of 50 isn't too bad, close enough to the stock +55...

the only thing i'm concerned about is the width of the rims...

is 8.0 too wide? would it cause any rubbing? seeing as the stock 17" are 7.0.

same goes with tyres, would i be best getting 225/40 for them?

I'm running TL wheels which are 8" wide but with even less offset (45). They fit OK and I'm lowered. I may rub lightly with just the right combination of speed, road condition and load. And it's not the obvious crappy spots in a road, it has to be more like a mogul condition. I come across a spot like that once every other month or so, so for all intents and purposes I can say I don't rub. You'll probably need hub rings for those wheels, assuming the hub bore diameter is bigger that the Acura. If it's smaller, you can either forget it or you'd have to have the wheel center enlarged. And the correct plus one tire size is 235/40x18 (will maintain the same tire diameter). Or you could go with size 215/45x18 (again, to maintain same diameter).

If they didn't fit I would be shocked.

They'll fit, but not perfectly. RX8 wheel centerbore is different; 67.1mm vs. 64.1mm for the TSX.

how does the larger centerbore affect the fitting of the wheel? as in how does it affect driving in general?

The centerbore of a wheel is the size of the machined hole on the back of the wheel that centers the wheel properly on the hub of the car. When this hole is machined to exactly match the hub so the wheels are precisely positioned, minimizing the chance of a vibration.
