Replacing back brakes at 28,000 miles?

Dealer recommended that my back brakes are less than 5% before going out and needs to be replace for $465.00. Are you kidding me at 28K miles? Is that right? I don't want to be cheated here and can't I try to replace them myself. It's just like any other disc back brakes right? Please help? Thanks.

I had to replace my rear brakes at 32,000 miles on my TSX. I had my car checked out last month at my last service at 72,000 miles and they said my back brakes are only at 20% and my fronts should be good +100,000 miles.

This might be a good opportunity to upgrade your pads to something like Hawk.

I haven't taken a look at the back brakes but it should be very similar to Integra disc brakes right? Can I get Hawks from any local autopart store?

I would upgrade if I were you. I went with Duralast gold cmax ceramic pads at autozone. They are awesome pads. 53 bucks for the set. Also look into cross drilled and slotted rotors. Doing the rear pads would probably take the dealer 30 minutes to complete. Maybe they will charge you an hour for labor. You can get new rotors on ebay for cheap. I got my front and rear cross drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads for 175 bucks shipped to my door. I have had them on for 45,000 miles and they are amazing!!

They're similar to pretty much all disc brakes. Don't think they're similar to the Integra in particular.
