What do you guys recommend for a nice oem feeling ride, with about a 1"-1.5" drop all around? I was kinda thinking H&R Sport springs.. or Tein H-Techs. How do those ride?

Well if you were to just swap springs, your stock struts will eventually blow.

So personally I would recommend you to invest in some coilovers. I have the Tein CST's, and they ride just as nice as stock, if not smoother.

im on the same page as the t/s. I just sold my rsx type-s and had coilovers on there and loved them. Only thing is the $$. IMO the tsx sits way to high stock, but if i could get something similar to say bmw 3 series or g35 coupes stock height (about two finger gap) without spending 700-1200 on coilovers, that would be perfect. Thats why i am also considering h-techs.
On second note, with the h tech, since it is only an inch lower(about), shouldnt the struts not be affected all that much? Thanks ahead of time for the answer, looking foward to getting my tsx sometime next week.

since h tech only lowers the car by not too much, your struts will last a long time, although, of course, much shorter than with stock springs. It depends on what roads you take, it might blow within few thousand miles, or it can go for two, three years. However, you should really get aftermarket struts along with the springs. Taking shortcuts isn't always the best way to do things in this world. Stock struts are mated for stock spring rates and if you lower it with aftermarket springs, the rates will differ and you will have shitty rebound/dampings. Also, eventually you will have to replace the blown stock struts which will cost you another labor fees.

labor fees? whats that? haha it surprises me how many people here pay others to work on their car. maybe its just me.

go with the comptech (discontinued but you could probably find some around) or tein htech like everyone else is saying

You should, maybe grab an used one from the forum. I know a couple members in my area are selling good quality H&R Coilover and JDM TEIN Flex Coilover (JDM SpringRate).

There's nothing wrong w/ just the spring but you never know when you stock shocks will blow. Some member has a blown shock w/in 3 months, and some never. I never like this idea tho, simply 1. You can't adjust the height (for winter/summer); 2. You pay double installation IF something blow or you decide to swap in aftermarket shocks etc. Why don't you do it right the first time?

I'm running on a set of BuddyClub RSD now, love it.

thanks guys. I think i'm gonna go with the Tanabe NF210 springs. They lower the car 1.5" all around, and the spring rate is only 5% stiffer then OEM. That means it'll have oem ride, and the shocks won't blow.

diesel, i think that even with the small difference in % of stiffness, the ride height is what will cause the shocks to blow. I would keep in mind what chuson said about paying for (or doing if you are diy) installing springs then shocks later. It may be cheaper up front for springs, but in the long run you are also paying for shocks (about 600) and when added to your springs ( guessing around 250) youre at 850. You can get the tanabe sustec pro II coilovers that use a helper spring to increase ride quality (trust me it works) for another 50 dollars and only have to do the install once.

i have the Tein S-Tech springs with 1.75" drop on front and 1.3" on rear, should i be worried about blowing the shocks? how much do new aftermarket shocks go for? because i plan on getting coil overs next year, would really like air ride but its a lil pricey.

I would just wait to get coilovers, shocks should be around like 500-600 coilovers being between 800-1000

First, for all the spring options out there, we'd suggest surfing here:
http://www.heeltoeauto.com/home.php?cat=3354

Next, for the question of stock shocks or not, check this out:
http://heeltoeauto.com/httech/YaBB.pl?num=1186126842

For the question of springs versus coilovers, we prefer coilovers because its a one stop move with nothing to think about later. That being said, a 1" drop is not going to hurt your shocks or ride much at all.

If you want a ride similar to stock with a 1" drop get the Eibach Pro Kit.
