RDX wheels on '05 TSX
RDX wheels on '05 TSX
Everywhere I've read says that the RDX stock 19" rims will fit with no issues on a 2004-2008 TSX. I love the way the actual rim looks, but was wondering if anyone has done this? If so, anyone have pics of the wheels on their TSX?? I was thinking on 18", but came across these RDX wheels and think they look bad ass. I would love to see them on a similar car to make sure they are not hideous. Any help would be appreciated...
Yes, that's them from what I can tell. Do you have any side pics? So these are 18"'s? What size tire do you have?? The one's I'm getting are 19"'s for sure and I'm going with a 245/35-19 tire. Should sit the same as stocks, just a whole lot more rim. May end up dropping it, I'll see once I put them on. I'll post pics next week once they arrive and they're installed. Thanks-
I'm inclined to agree about the ride quality. Such as low profile set up is better reserved for a true sports car in my opinion (unless of course all you want is the look). Plus, 245/35x19 is a little taller than the OE size (1/3" to 1/2" taller), so along with the extra width (going from a tire that's 215mm wide to 245mm is a pretty big jump), you'd have that to deal with too. 235/35/19 is the correct plus 2 size (same diameter as OE). And.... to add insult to injury, you're looking at a really heavy tire and wheel combination. All the OE wheels tend to be on the heavy side, and I'm sure the 19's are the heaviest. I'm really just playing the devil's advocate here and giving my opinion. As expressed above, to each his own.
First off, DurgyNess thanks for the pics. Gives me a good idea, just picturing carbon gray instead of blue. I appreciate the help.

$550 shipped for all 4 in silver (don't want chrome), center caps and sensors. That is a sweeeet deal!
Actually, the tire size is 0.3" bigger than stock or at least what is on my car now. I currently have 215/50-17 and the tire calculator I use showed stock at 25.5" and the new at 25.8". Also, looks like my stock wheel weighs around 22-23# and these shipped were 25# each. So I'm guessing it's maybe a pound more. Regardless I get your view and can appreciate it.
Thanks all for chiming in, I update next week when they are on.
I think 19"s are too big and ride quality may get rough. But to each his own. Did you order them from rob from our sponsers? i believe he said he gets a good deal on them.

hey sounds like a great deal! hope that works out for you and yah! update us with pictures. I agree the silver looks 10x better than the chrome. When i had my RL i wanted these same wheels for it in 19" but they cost to much for that bolt pattern.
Will do, should be mid next week. I also decided to do the 235/35-19. See Simba91102, not all for lost; your info helped me realize this is actually better for me and the car. 100% spec equivalent to stock size I have now.
Went yesterday and the wheels are on. Due to proper fitment on this wheel, I had to go with the Goodyear GT 245/35-19 unlike the 235/35-19 I had hoped. Here's what I have to say:
-This is exactly the look I was hoping for. It does not scream for attention and still looks like it can be stock.
-The ride quality changed NONE! Larger bumps maybe a little different feel, regular driving zero difference.
I am surprised about the ride, I expected worse and am happy with lack of change on feel. I may lower it somewhere down the line, but think it still looks good as is for now. For some reason I can not attach pics, so here's a link to photos I put in a gallery. Let me know what you think.
All in all, I'm very happy and the price was unbeatable.

1. I live west, out in Hanover Park about 45 min from where you are at and Sunday is the only day I'll be home.
2. My store is in Des Plaines, only about 10min from Melrose. I'm here today until 6pm and Monday until around 5pm. I'll be working, but should be steady enough to come out a BS for a while.
Let me know, my store # is 847-795-1005. Straight north on Mannheim will get you to me in about 10-15min.
hey nice purchase, i was interested in doing this also. They look GREAT!! Glad to hear there's no diff in ride quality. However, is there any rubbing from the 245 size tires?

No tire rub at all, the gap from stock springs is too great to allow rub. Which is the next step, lowering it to look better without rubbing. My buddy owns a shop around here and will be there Tuesday to look at options. I figure a 1" drop will be perfect for this set-up. Should be no rub, will look a lot better and will not change the drive much at all. I'll update once I talk to him and he see's the car. I'd love to just buy a set of A-spec 1" coilovers, just don't have the coin to spend $520 right now. Wish they were around $350, I'd do it in a hearbeat.
Maybe someone can shed a little light? I'll know for sure tomorrow once I go to my buddies shop, but maybe someone here has an idea too. If you look at my pics in the photo gallery, those are bigger and more detailed than the post, you can see the wheel gap is the same as stock. The tire combo I went with gave almost identical specs to the stock set-up. I want to close that gap every so slightly and figure I'll drop it just 1" and it should look good. The problem I see is that these wheels have a 45 offset and therefore the tire sits flush with the fender. I'm guessing if I drop it, even on 1", there will be tire rub because the wheel does not sit inside the fender. I figure the stock gap is around 2.5-3", anybody have thoughts if a 1" drop and the tire not riding in the wheel well might be an issue?
Not too sure on your drop question, perhaps you already did it. When lowered the car there will be some negative camber naturally so that may assist you. What's the width of the rim, not familiar with RDX rims but I always wondered what it'd look like lol?
You may slightly rub but I can't imagine it being a huge deal tbh, most rubbing is only on strong turns usually. If you do rub and must get rid of it then you could prob tuck the liner and eliminate a good amount of it. You can also roll the front fenders but there isn't much play to do that. Possibly bend up the fender tabs. If the rubbing is still there after all of that and you can't stand it then you can get front control arms to adjust it and should do well. Most of this is only needed on lowered/slammed cars. Being at 1" I prob just wasted most of my breath here haha.

To be honest I'm not sure on the wheel width, maybe 8.5". Figured a 1" drop can't be much so I bought the Tein H-tech today. Will have my buddy put them on and play around if need be once they are installed. Will update next week, hopefully sooner than later.
Thanks and it was really nice meeting up with you. Sorry I got a little busy and wasn't able to talk much, but you were good luck. It died after you left, wish you would've stayed for my business sake. J/K, we'll be in touch-
Alright, the car has been lowered and the tints are on and the car looks awesome. A lot better than I really expected it. It's been rainy here so I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them. The Tein H-Tech springs really lowered it more than expected, at least it looks like more than 1" in front and 0.7" in the rear. There is definitely rubbing and I want to see what people have for ideas. I'd like to get some shocks to stiffen it a little. Not real stiff, but just a tad. I plan to play with the inner fenders to help because the rubbing is on the plastic and I feel I can eliminate 3/4 of it with minor alterations. I don't want to get adjustable Koni's because I don't have the money for them and don't plan to adjust them lower. I was looking at the Tokico's but saw some people say it drops the car a little more and I can't have that. Please chime in with any thoughts of good aftermarket shocks that might stiffen it a little more. The stocks that are on there have about 90k on them, so I'd assume any new shock should be better than these. Hoping for the $300 range tops, if anyone has a used set I'd be up for buying those too. Let me know what you think, thanks in advance-
No feedback? Well I bit the bullet and bought the Tokico HP's and they should be here in the next day or 2. I figured they have to be stiffer than stock and should help a ton, plus my car has 94k miles on it and the stocks have to be wearing a bit. I'll update and post pics over the weekend once all is on and I know what the verdict is.
Tomorrow I'll post pics. Been rainy for last few days, I'll wash her tonight and post them in the morning. As far as the shocks go, think this is the better option in the long run. Need it a tad stiffer and stock is strictly luxury smooth.
Nice! That's looks awesome. You would never guess they are for the RDX. It looks even better since you lowered it and the window tint. The wheels are 19x8 if anyone is wondering. I found it inside one of the wheels.
The only problem I have now is whether to put them on the tsx or the rdx...

RDX rims alone, looks good but too high and just not right
RDX rims + Tein H-tech, looks awesome but rubs
RDX rims + Tein H-tech + Tokico HP's, priceless
!!! SUCCESS !!!
Installed the HP's tonight and nearly 95% of rubbing is gone. Every now and then the rear rubs, so time to roll the fender. I am so happy this did the trick because my wife would've killed me if I had to spend more money. I'm going to get an alignment Friday just to make sure all is cool, but had to post because I had my doubts this would cure the rubbing. Ride is definitely a little stiffer, but not bad at all. Plus no rubbing, so that is worth a little loss of ride quality.
By the way, I would HIGHLY recommend anyone who plans to lower their car with springs to save time and trouble and get shocks at the same time. My car was lowered not even 2 weeks ago and when I pulled the rears today, one was already blown. This was not a terrible install, but still 3 hours of my time. It's worth it to bite the bullet and do both at the same time. If you don't have the money for shocks, save and wait until you can afford both. 2 weeks and if I had no decided to do the shocks, I'd be out the dough anyways because they went quickly. The stocks are not designed to handle even a subtle drop like the 1" / .7" the H-techs offer. Just a recommendation...

Start saving for new suspension!
Please drive at least 5k before recommending this spring/shock combo to others.
This combo is really a bad mismatch (annoyingly overdamped)! I could not tolerate it for more than 5k. It's expensive to do this first, lose half the money selling it used, then buy something else and install that.
It would be a shame to send more people down that path...

Let me clear the air a little:
In order to make these wheels work I had to change the shocks so it did not rub and I changed the springs to make it look better. This set-up has had not favorable reviews by others because the Tokico's seem to have "bounce" when used with the H-techs. This is what I used and don't mind the ride, but if you plan to do these wheels and change the suspension, do some research before you decide what set-up fits your budget and your liking. I wish it had less "bounce", but I don't have $700 to drop on Koni's and to me it's not unbearable. This is not a recommendation of what to use, just a posting on what I decided to use.

Got these all set up now. Went with 235/35/19 tires to more closely match the original diameter and no issues/rubbing at all at this point. Planning to do a drop/shock change shortly to reduce gap but even as is like these better than those ugly 17's on the 08 TSX.
