Progress Rear Sway Bar!
Just installed my Progress rear sway bar and loving it. The difference in the stock (15mm) vs Progress (22mm) is definitely noticeable. Plus installation isn't very hard, had a bunch of my buds with me to help. I'll post some pic's with directions on how I did it. First install/mod on my first car too
Oh yeah, I installed mine on Highest rigidity setting (holes furthest from front of piece)
Edit: Here's a link to the part and place I ordered it from too. Got it from these guys' ebay store http://www.neverenoughauto.com/catal...104-p1602.html

Took my friend and I almost 4 hours cuz we didn't have the right tools + end link nuts where very hard to take off..
Here on Acurazine people who installed it seem to be honest about how long it
took them to install , on tsxclub there are people claiming to have got it
done in 15 mins - 30 mins!
I call BS on the 15 min install but who knows.. do you guys think its possible?

15 mins to install - no time quoted for removal !!
Installing something once you've sussed out how it comes off, and removed it, is the easy part.
Loosening up those bolts is probably the hardest part and most time consuming.

on that subject I am curious how .rex. does using the ramps since getting mine out I used the large space above the rear drivers side wheel when the car was on floor jacks and with the ramps that space doesn't happen.

I actually used a ramp too. You just need to snake the bar out, which was
actually easy compared to getting the end links off.

Just a few quick helpful hints for installation that saved me a TON of time. You don't NEED the hex key, you can just get a pair of needle nose vise grips and lock on to the washer from the back and use a air socket and it pulls that baby right off. As for "snaking" out the bar, just unbolt the 2 bolts that connec the muffler to the pipe and presto, the bar drops right out! It seriously shaves A LOT of time off. That is why it only took me like 30 mins the second i did it!

Since I needed lots of guidance I used all the info/suggestions from Azine.
Here is my teflon wrap
And I disconnected the driver side exhaust hangers front and rear. here is a pic of the front hanger off. This is the gap I used to remove/install the bars
Progress RSB installed from drivers side. Shows the stiffest setting.
Progress RSB bracket on passengers side
Side View from Driver side. Shows the difficult to reach bolt on the bushing bracket, where dropping the exhaust off of hanger allows access. Arrow shows hard to reach bolt
Those familiar will notice I have jack stands positioned under the control arm mounting plate. I did that per the recommendation of my next door neighbor who is a retired mechanic so I listened. I also had another set of jack stands in the perimeter frame (jack up spots in front of rear wheels) yep four stands. BTW I borrowed all the stands and jacks from him
Yes the upgrade is worth it. The cornering stability is great.

In your 3rd picture where the muffle bolts to the piping, that is what i was talking above in my post. If you unbolt that, the bar can slide right out!

I did my install in just over half hour. I put the car on jack stands and removed the rear wheels altogether. Was very easy to get to the sway bar that way.

I installed mine about a week ago in the garage in roughly 40-45 min. Every one complains about endlinks being tough to remove bolt from, but i had no problems with mine-04 w/28k ml; of course in Texas we don't exactly have alot of salt or sand on roads for winter months. Removing both rubber hangers from the drivers muffler was all it took to get old bar out and new one in.
Progress RSB is an excellent mod that reduces body roll alot. Paired w/ a couple other handling upgrades this little car handles like a star.

Progress might want to throw in a WARNING in the instructions that states that with the RSB installed the TSX rear can easily break loose taking turns at 40+ MPH

I asked this question on the DIY thread, but nobody answered. So what kind of
torque wrench did you guys use?
The end links need to be 29ft/lbs, but the torque wrench I used,
had to estimate between 320 and 420. I couldn't set it exactly at 348.

doesn't mean you should go 40 + on corners.
For me, sway bar does improve cornering, but I learned I still need to slow down.
As soon as I finished installing my sway bar, took it for a test run and lost control
going down a twisty road where you have to turn 3 times; a sharp left, right and than another sharp left. I didn't use my breaks and was going about 30 on a 15 zone.
On the way back, went a little slower + used the
breaks, and the twisty road was very fun and I felt I had more control.

So go to a parking lot and practice oversteer recovery (counter steering).
Also letting go of the gas while going through a corner fast will cause your car to oversteer. In this situation counter-steer and give it some gas; and the car will straighten out.
Remember, there is a reason why our cars don't come with a 22mm thick bar from the factory! But man, does RSB make this car fun!
By the way I did NOT have power tools and those end links did take the longest time (my car is originally from NY).

I stated this because it was fun, not dangerous. I'll let the autoXers comment on this in detail with the correct lingo. And if you drive for the conditions the RSB should not be any hazard.

Is waiting in
It's great! Took me about 2 hours. Had a few breaks in between due to thirst and mosquitoes. Endlinks were tough; quite rusty had to soak them. I left the wheels on and just snaked it. Had few clunks but then I tightened the endlinks the next morning and now it's perfect! I used the grease and teflon tape and so far no squeaks! Thanks Acurazine for the info!

I got mine from there too. I just installed mine yesterday and let me tell you, you better make sure the endlink nuts are tight enough or your rear end will start clunking. Other than that this sway bar is awesome and I can't wait for my Neuspeed FSB to come in!
