Possibly a dumb question

I know I've seen something about this in another thread, but i dont remember which and dont remember there being a clear answer, so..

I'm on stock 17's, I get 18's, is my car still sitting at the same height just now closed up the vertical wheel gap? or am I now slightly higher? Logically thinking I'd say the first answer but just wanted a definitive answer.

If you do it right then it should be about the same because of the speedometer reading. Hence the lower profile tire for the larger rim.

However, the gap may look closer due to a wider tire.

Appreciate it! Don't know if it has an effect but the tires will most likely be the Pirelli P7 All season 235/45/18

The thickness of the sidewall of your tires are part of the suspension system of the TSX. Going with a 18/19/20 inch tire might change the ride, handling, acceleration, and braking depending on the type/weight of the up size tire/rim combo. That could be good or bad depending on what look, ride, handling characteristics you are looking for (or live with). Up sizing might even increase rim damage from pot holes since there is less space to absorb the impact.

The TSX looks so much better with up sized rims in the 18-19 inch range (even more if you have a drop along with it). I up-size my rims to 20" on my MDX and the combo saved me about 6-7lbs per corner and helped with acceleration, braking, handling, and mpgs compared to OEM tires/rims.

as long as the tire size is corrected to reflect a similar circumference as the oem wheel and tire size then the car will sit just the same as before. By going to a larger wheel with different circumference your speedometer may be slightly off.
