Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S sizing question...

Looking to replace my tires sometime in the future, and I don't have a desire to buy 18" or 19" rims. I like the P Zero Nero M+S tires, and have read a lot of good things on them. Problem is they don't make a 215 50/17 size. So, size choices are: 215/45WR17 , 225/45WR17, or 235/45WR17. The 215-45 would be same width (of course), but about .4 inches shorter, and giving an overall circumference of 96% of the 215 50/17's. The 225's would be .3 inches, but .39 inches wider, and 98% of the correct circumference. The 235's are almost the same height and circumference (within 99.4%), but about .8 inches wider. I think the width would be the problem, correct? So any of the above work, or should I give up on the P Zero Nero M+S tires..... BTW, I've read all of the posts I could in this section on sizing, they were a help, but I couldn't really tell what width limitations are.... I know that the primary issue with the shorter tires is your spedometer would be off, by 2-4 percent...

Most peope have been going with 225/45/17.

And your math is a bit off. The 215/45/17 are about 0.85inches shorter.

I also think that 235 is a bit too wide, although people have done it.

You're correct, the height numbers I gave are compared from the rim to the tire edge and I was thinking of how much height is subtracted from the ground clearance. The actual tire height affect would be double. I think the circumference numbers are correct. I'm adverse to the 235's if it would be dangerous/void warranties/etc. Also, I don't know what the extra width would do to the gas mileage. Suppose the ideal solution would be to talk Pirelli into making the correct size

LikeI said, most people are happy with the 225/45/17, if it does create a but more wheel gap.

I'm waiting on some wheels from Discount Tire and I went with the Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S in 225/45/17. Like Lung said, that's what most people are going with. You should be fine with that. I can't wait to get them with the wheels. Too bad I have to wait 5 weeks for my wheels!
