has anyone run 245/40/18 on a 18x8.5+48?? will that affect handling or is 235/40 a better option? please post pics if possible.

The fit would most likely depend on if and how much you're lowered. The 235/40x18 is the direct replacement size (plus 1) for the OE size 215/50x17 (meaning it's the same diameter). The larger tire would raise your effective final drive ratio (that means lower numerically) and would also be slightly heavier (how much would depend on the tire though). But the wheel would probably be a good fit and you could run the smaller tire on them if you wanted to (the 235/40x18 would actually probably look pretty good).

you're good. That's the right size tire for a 8.5" wheel. The 8.5" Aspec wheels are +45 and most run 245/40/18's and some even run 255/35/18's.

Yes,...but I'll be running this set-up on a TSX, not a TL. I'm assuming there's a difference b/ween the two as far as fitment/clearance is concerned. I don't think think I'd be able to run a 255 on a TSX.

You may get opinions all over the place. I used to run OE TL wheels (the 17x8 et45 variety from the model year 04-08 TL) w/ the TL OE size tire (235/45x17)(they're the same diameter as the TSX OE tire by the way) and I would occasionally rub in back. I'm lowered about an inch. Now I've read posts here from plenty of guys who are as low or lower than me and run a more aggresive setup without rubbing. Are they full of crap? I'm reluctant to say so..... but, I never considered "rubbing" to be a relative word (two people, two opinions), so maybe I'm missing something. My point is that I'm not sure you're going to get a definitive answer to your questions here. Pictures?... maybe.

I think I'm gonna play it safe & go with 235/40. Seems like the best option for my drop. Hopefully it won't rub.
