i find now that i like driving with the konis and pro kit when i am well rested, but after a couple hours of driving i just get beat up. so that's my motivation for changing. plus i want to move up to 18 inch wheels next spring and understand that would make the ride rougher as well. hoping the tanabes will lessen the overall bumpiness of the ride.

What is different between Type I and Type II?

Also, which version has the helper spring?

Nice buy though jigga, that might be my next suspension too. That or Tein SS.

"SUSTEC PRO S-0C Type II features all of the benefits of the S-0C in a lower cost, high value package. The Type II is a non-helper spring model that features a longer main coil spring."

and:

"Sustec Pro S-S delivers broad performance for the track to the streets. Featuring 4-way front and 4 or 8 way rear adjustment, S-S allows drivers to fine tune height, dampening and rebound based on track conditions and driver preference."

http://www.tanabe-usa.com/coilovers/

looks like i would get the Sustec Pro S-S or the Sustec Pro S-S type II

but i wonder how these compare to say TEIN SS?
these Tanabe's seems are better for comfort + performance.

So the helper spring mimics progressive spring rates, so the ride is even better? Am I right? Trying to figure out what the heck it does.

no applications for TSX with the Sustec Pro S-S or the Sustec Pro S-S type II and they cost atleast 1200.00 from the looks of it.

Historically, helper or tender springs primarily were used to keep the spring seated under full extension, as in when the car is jacked up or when doing rally style jumps. They generally are of such a low spring rate that they pretty much close up when under load, so they would provide no additional ride comfort. It would be possible to design it as a progressive set though, and it appears from the description that Tanabe may have taken this route, as they say "Preload of the main spring can also be set to zero, for maximum comfort....."

So, if ride comfort is a big priority, they should be even more comfortable......

So there isn't a Tanabe application with a helper spring for the TSX though?

Yeah, the Sustec Pro S-OC has the helper spring, the Type II does not. Both are available for the TSX.

BTW, you can find these for sale for 680 shipped at www.jzperformance.com. Never heard of them prior, but I was going to buy from there until I saw them on the Black Market.

I put an order through a forum sponsor, so I don't think it'd be in "good taste" to cancel on him unless he has trouble getting it in... that shipped price from www.jzperformance.com is ridiculous.

Does anyone have any experience with this site, or know where they're based out of?

I'm in NJ too --- it really all depends... an authorized Tanabe dealer will probably charge you less than another tuner shop because they're "familiar" with them. For a Tanabe dealer, I'd say you're looking at ballpark $150. Other tuner shops would probably range from there all the way up to $300. Or you could do like me, perform the install yourself, and save some money

Congrats everyone on this thread that decided to get the Tanabes. After losing out on the Tein Flex, I think that it was a blessing in disguise. I took the car out today after installing the Cusco Front strut bar and man do I love the handling on these! Additionally, they offer a great ride as well! Can't beat that

I charge $120-130....don't get ripped off. It is not that hard to do.

Agreed... those price quotes are actually based on the quotes I received when I was considering the Tein SS... I was curious how much it would've cost me if I brought it to a local shop for install. I figured that if it wasn't too bad, maybe I'll spend the money and use the "spare" time productively. Based on those quotes, however, I decided it was just better off to do the install myself...
