New tires

I know that the topic of new tires have been discussed before. But upon searching, there have not been a whole lot of threads about tramlining effects with different tires.
I was thinking about upgrading wheels to 18 inch Ronjon's.
I know that these tires are wider and when you go with wider tires you typically notice tramlining more on the highway due to the road not being completely flat.

However, upon a little further research and reading what others are saying about tires; some seem to tramline and some really don't.

I am wondering, for those of you who have larger than stock wheels, which tires are you using? I'm debating between the Avon's and the Fuzion ZRi's, they seem to be pretty popular around here. But i was wondering if your wider tires tramline.

Of course, i'm open to other tire suggestions as well. As long as the tire is not too expensive. After voting in the poll, please post which tires you have on your car, and the size/width upgraded and whether or not they tramline on the highway.

This will also give a little insight to the 's here.

I had 225/40/18 Kumho 712 on 18x7.5 +42 SSR Comp and it tramlined like crazy, very annoying. I also had 215/50/17 Falkex Ziex 512 on 17x7 +43 Volk GTC and it didn't tram line at all.

IMO is more about the tire and tread than the size. Yes you'll get more gripping w/ a wider tire, but 215 -> 225 isn't a huge jump, yet the tramlining was really bad w/ the Kumho's. The Falkens were an all-season, less aggresive tread and were very very smooth. Another thing to keep in mind is a lower offset can increase tramlining by widing the track of the car. RJs have high offsets so that should help compared to other wheels.

Can anyone else comment of what types of tires they have and whether or not they tramline?
Anyone here have Avon 500's? Or 550's? I'm thinking about getting a set of those. I hope they dont tramline when i put them on my RJ's.

When you say smooth, do you mean a very straight and stable highway ride?
Quiet too?

thanks
