Maximum Tire Width

Maximum Tire Width
This is the first time I post on this forum and my first Acura after owning Audis and BMWs.
Want to upgrade to summer tires; at least 225s however the space there looks fairly tight. I would appreciate feedback since I want to avoid any type of tire rubbing.

numerous people are using 225/45/17 and I know of at least 2 that have gone to 235/45/17 with no rubbing inssues. the 235s won't fit on the stock wheels however.

If you don’t want to lower your car, you can still reduce your wheel gap to approximately 1.54”F/1.17”R by simply going to 18” wheels with 225/45 R18 tires. Otherwise, if you want about a 1” gap after all suspension and wheel/tire modifications, I’ve found the following setups to keep close to a 1” gap:
Eibach Springs/Wheel/Tire Combo
17 x 7 225/45 R17
Tire Height Front: 24.65” Rear: 25.00”
Wheel Gap Front: 1” Rear: 0.73”
(Note: I take into account the further drop on the front tire from the weight of the front end)
Now with a 1” suspension drop, say from
Comptech Springs/Wheel/Tire Combo
18 x 7 225/40 R18
Tire Height Front: 24.88” Rear 25.08”
Wheel Gap Front: 1.37” Rear: 1.30”
A better solution would be
17 x 7 235/45 R17
Tire Height Front: 25.07” Rear: 25.32”
Wheel Gap Front:1.18” Rear: 1.06”
However, I believe 235s are too wide.

With the current wheel size we are turning 25.46 inches. With 225/40 18 the number is 25.09; this will require to lower the car or have a larger gap.
It was easier to upgrade wheels and tires on the Audis and BMWs. Thanks to all for the feedback.

No kidding re: Audi VW upgrade. I did it to both my Jetta GLX and Passat. Acura makes it too hard to increase the tire width. I really wish some tire/wheel vendors would weigh in with actual wheel fitment data as opposed to "parameter" fitment.
