Help Belzebutt justify new springs

So there's no way I can get a set of A-Spec springs just for the hell of it, out of the question, it would be like CAN $1000 installed.

However, it occurred to me that springs are an item that wears out, and eventually you have to replace them. Let's say my springs need to be replaced, I suppose I could buy a set of Comptech springs and get the dealership to put them on instead of getting factory replacements. How much extra do you think that costs? Should I be factoring some other costs as well? How long until my factory springs wear out?

Are you talking about the entire A-spec shock/spring kit or just the springs?

i can't ever recall anyone i know replacing springs because of wear.

now shocks are a different story, and you can easily justify upgrading both, but if it's a new car, then you have a ways to go.

if you want them and can afford them, just get em.

oh wait, the handling improvements may save the life a passing squirrel, or end one... which ever you prefer.

Emergency handling. You need springs to avoid crazy drivers, kids, furniture, etc.

Actually I was "saved" by my suspension when a car changed into my lane like a crazy man. I seriously believe that had I been driving another car or with stock suspension I would have been in the front of the pile-up on on a busy interstate.

And get new shocks too.

(your factory springs will last forever)

Ok so it's the shocks that go? I know I had to replace the rear shocks on my Accord a while ago from wear and tear. How long are these things supposed to last? I guess if it's the shocks, I could ask them to replace it with the A-Spec ones...
