Falken's ZIEX 912
I just got some Falkens 912 245/45/17 on my my stock rims for $380 installed. They look to be of good quality built. My ride is much more quiet now and the ride has smoothen quite a bit too. Changing lanes on the freeway is really smooth and corning improve significantly over the stocks, didn't feel the need to brake too much either while cornering. Was going to run with the Kumho Asx's all seaons, but they didn't carry kumho's, so hopefully these perform as well for the price.
But my tsx still feels really hopy from the Tokico blues shocks with stock springs, do you guys think that the shocks are to stiff for the stock springs?

I also recently got these in the stock size and have been very happy with the results. I had a slight shake in the steering wheel at higher speed with the old OEM's. Most likely due to the fact I did not rotate them often enough and now it is gone. The tires as are quiet and a great value. I have not pushed them yet so I will let someone else comment on the performance, but for $204 for the tires ($100 off coupon) and $96 for mounting (tax included) I am very happy.

I ran these tires for 6 months before putting my winter tires on. They were put on by the dealer when I bought my car CPO so it wasn't my choice. Overall I've been pretty satisfied save for their performance in the snow (hence the winter tires). I don't get any tram lining at all and they're plenty grippy for any reasonable street driving. They seem to approach their limit (or as close as I've taken them any way) very linearly and give decent feedback. After looking into the price on these things I was pleasantly surprised. It's a super nice tire compared to other tires in it's price range.
Perhaps the only negative I've found is that after 6 months and 7,000 miles, the wear on the fronts is around 50% already. I am interested in seeing how they perform as they wear out. I'm not an extremely aggressive driver but there are lots of hills and curves (that make driving tons o' fun) in western PA.

BTW, what's up with that size?! That's grossly oversized not only for the rim but for the car too. How do they look?

Are these oversized for the oem tire guys? I read some recommendations and used the tire calculator for the 17's in the sticky and these are just a negative .5 to the OEM's. Compared to the stocks these looks wider and just a little bit shorter than the 50 series. I haven't took any pictures yet but, I'll try to soon. Should I have went with the stock sizing on these? They were cheaper too.

I bought these a while ago during the DTD deal as well, and finally had them mounted on. For the money, you can't go wrong. I think they are an overall improvement over stock. Just found out I'm moving to Philly for residency though, so I'll probably need to invest in a set of snow tires for the winters.

I've got Winter tires, so I'm thinking a Hi-Perf All season would be the best choice with the odd temp fluctuations here, rather than a summer tire (to replace the stock Michelin MXM4s).

I noticed that you aren't the first person to say that the UHPs are all seasons... but tirerack states that it's a "Ultra High Performance Summer tire" and that "We do not suggest Exclaim UHP tires be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice."
but General Tire's website states: "The ultra-high performance you need in all season conditions. "
I just want to double check if they are all season tires...

Great read guys.. I am too looking into these to replace my stockies.. I know it's been addressed somewhat, but are these tires quiet(er)? I just swapped my winters out and I can't stand the noise from the stock any longer
Great, cheap price on them for sure!

I liked the original Ziex 512 tire... good performance for the money, nice looking, and even some rim protection. However, I thought the treadwear was relatively weak compared to other UHP tires in "real life" as opposed to the ratings on paper. When I heard Falken was releasing an update to the 512, I was stoked... but I also saw that they added 2-3 lbs. per tire due to the new construction! I now am looking for a replacement to my 512's, but I'm looking at other options.
I don't doubt that they're still a great value and solid performer... but I'm not too keen on adding unsprung weight to the whip...
