Enkei or Kosei?
I'm torn between two wheels. Kosei K1TS which are 13.7 pounds according to tirerack, and Enkei RPF1 which are 14.6 pounds. I was planning on just getting the Enkei's untill I noticed the lighter weight and lower cost of the Kosei's. They're both cast so they should have similar quality right?
Does anyone have any experience with these two brands and can help me with this problem? Feedback either posative or negative would be helpful.

Enkei is a reputable company and just because both are cast does not mean that they are the same quality by any means whatsoever.
Just to let you know Honda uses Enkei for all of their OEM wheels and they have been in the racing industry for quite some time. Kosei, i have no personal experience with these wheels, but they seem like cheap replica type wheels such as motegi. They definitely are not as reputed as Enkei.

A couple of people have had Koseis, and they've been around for awhile. I believe they were used in the Japanese Touring car series, so they aren't some fly by night operation. I'd imagine they're just as durable as the enkeis.

Don't just forget about them. I too have noticed those wheels (Kosei's), the weight and the prices and they seem to be a pretty good value. Also many of the wheels we see are "knockoffs" or very close in style/design to other wheels with just minor alterations. If I did not see another pair of wheels I like more (which unfortunatley are 10 lbs more each than the Kosei's) I would be looking at those as well.

One thing I like about the Kosei is that I can get it in a grey color instead of just black like the Enkei's. So far I'm leaning towards the Kosei.

The Enkei RPF1 is made in Japan. But just a note that some Enkei rims are not made in Japan. Most of the lower priced ones are made in China. That isn't to say it's necessarily worst quality than if they were made in Japan, but it's just a thought to consider.

Both have been around for a while, I would go with Enkei overall between the two but have no experience with the Kosei so couldn't tell you anything about them. One thing which is continually misconstrued is that casting is the same for all companies, totally false. Companies use different processes, materials, workmanship etc. when it comes to it. Some have perfected it better than others so saying everything is the same isn't true. Enkei is one of the better companies regarding casting rims and affordability to the consumer.
I would only base your decision right now off of price and look for your taste. I love the RPF1 and the weight difference is minimal so would only affect you if you're truly tracking a lot, which in most cases ppl don't do. Sure there is a weight difference but look at it between the 4 rims, under 4 lbs difference overall is really not the hugest difference.
I would see which you like more overall and just go for it. Both rims I imagine should be able to hold up to DD and spirited driving. If you plan on tracking your car then I would suggest go with better rims overall that are forged.

My car will never see a track. It's a commuter. I drive about 800 miles a week, so things that help fuel economy end up saving me alot of money. It's one of the reasons I went with a TSX instead of the TL type S. Any chance any of you know if the lighter wheels will save any fuel in addition to the added performance?

The weight difference between the rims isn't enough to give you a realistic saving, your driving habits will have more of an effect than the weight. Granted the lighter wheels would make it easier but since the difference is so small it will take forever for you to see a true savings. I read somewhere that you would need to lose 20 lbs in order to have a saving in gas of a minimal amount of gallons. The mere 4 lbs isn't anything to truly consider. Now if you were looking at rims that were like 24 lbs each and then 13 lbs each is a totally different story. Between your choices I would go with Enkei but it's your decision. The weight difference shouldn't be enough to influence your decision really unless you're doing a lot of changing in the car to make it lighter.

ive had both. kosei are very lightweight wheels. the set i had was 17x7 and only 13.7 pounds!
even in 17x8 with a 35 offset they are only 15.5 pounds a piece. kind of ugly but damn are they light!
enkei has some light rims but the kosei tend to be cheaper. both are quality wheels so u cannot go wrong
