Comptech RSB Installed

I installed my Comptech RSB yesterday about 3 weeks after installing Tein SS. Wow, what a difference. I loved the way the car handled after the Teins but I love it even more now. I wasn't expecting it to be so noticable even though that's exactly what many people seem to report.

It took about 3 hours from the time I pulled into the garage to the time I left to go home, but that included time to re-torque all the bolts from the tein/ingalls install on the front and back. That also included the 10-15 min ride I took to let the RSB settle in, then the time it took to jack it back up and re-torque the RSB bolts It also took me about 5 mins (which seemed like an hour) just to get the RSB into position because I mistakenly tried to fit it in with the ES poly bushings on. I also set the tire pressure to 32f/30r. I feel that 3 hours for all that is reasonable. And if didn't hurt having this thread available.

Here are a couple pics of the RSB and ES poly bushings:

Sorry to be going off topic here but seeing that you're running the same setup I am right now do you notice that the suspension is now exhibiting more noise over certain bumps at all?
By the way what's the torque for the upper mounts you used?

I guess he brings a little too much of his christmas spirit to the suspension.
Notice how his camber kit is in the same red paint.
Damn! it matches well with TEIN green.

Yeah, I painted it. I painted the Ingalls to prevent rusting and had a lot left over so figured I'd paint the RSB too.

Bah Humbug. I did consider painting the calipers red because that goldish color that are now is kind of crappy looking. I figured that might be going overboard though and people would think I was a wanna-be-bbk-guy, so quickly dismissed the idea.

I hear noise coming from the left front wheel well that I tried to describe in another post here today. I was thinking it might be some sort of rubbing but just about 15 minutes ago the same noise occurred on flat ground simply by turning the steering wheel as I was backing up. IOW, it might not be related to my Tein install even though that seems to be the obvious suspect.

I did massively bottom out over a speed bump a couple days after installing the Teins, so maybe I damaged something related to steering the car since the noise is sort of a knocking sound.

As for the RSB torques, I used my service manual to determine them. The 4 bushing clamp bolts are 16 lbs-ft and the 2 endlink bolts are 28 lbs-ft.

BTW, I originally chose the red paint because my car is red. I figured it wasn't such a bad thing to have the mods I installed stick out a little from the rest of the car. I don't know, maybe it's a lame idea.

HEY, about the red paint -- might as well show off your mods. Can you see this stuff from behind the car? I have seen photos of chrome lower-rear-strut bars that probably looked nice if you had a low angle. And I like those blue front lower strut bars (posted elsewhere), except I don't like how low they are to the ground. But, hey, at least they LOOK good, and that's what counts!

I like red-painted calipers too, but if they are otherwise stock, yeah, it does sound a bit wanna-be-ish. Then again, it's not like a lot of the crazy stuff people do to their cars. I say go for it. (I have read that you have to use special paint for the calipers. I'd probably find some way to screw it up, so I think I'll pass, but I like the idea. :-) )

I also have sway bar (Progress) installed over the weekend. Wow, it really made a difference especially in corners, off ramps and twisty roads. Turns are more neutral and gives me more confidence in curve roads (at higher speed). I must say, that all you guys' comments and reviews made me do this mod. Thanks peeps.

Now, I'm thinking of getting a coilover.

Not unless I run someone over. You can see the stuff if you bend down while trying to get a peak at the coilovers because one of my friends already ask me what the "red things" are.
