Compliance Bushings

Hey all,

Dealer has quoted me $550 to get both front compliance bushings replaced which are broken. Car is a 05 TSX AT with 98k on it. I'm assuming they are replacing the entire control arm. Do you feel this is a reasonable price to do this work or should I buy parts online and go to another mechanic to install?

Thanks

I've never heard of compliance bushings before... Are they on the upper or the lower control arm? A new upper arm is about $60 online, and new lower arm is $123. You are looking at 2 to 3 hours of labor plus an alignment.

compliance bushing is the bushing on the front LCA. It's located on the front of the LCA where it connects to the car's frame/sub frame.

part # 8

The bushing itself is like 20 bucks each. You do have to press them in. Or you can just buy the whole arm like JTSO says.

Sorry to hear that they have to be pressed in. I have them from my dealer, sitting in the back seat of my car right now. I was going to attempt the repair myself. I noticed they were cracking when doing the brakes. I paid like $10 for each bushing. My dealer matches internet pricing. I guess I will consult my 'other' mechanic to get a price quote on replacing them. The TSX repair manual illustrates a fairly detailed procedure for removing the lower arm, but doesn't mention how to press out the compliance bushings, that I could find.

I checked with local NTB and they are willing to replace the bushings for 350/-

I have three year alignment with them and that helps as i don't need to pay for alignment separately..

I have taken my vehicle for inspection and the Tech told me the lower control arm front busing (part #8) in the figure above is not tore a lot. There are minor tearing.

How ever on the rear bushing (part #10) i believe there is a good amount of tearing. And he suggested to replace the entire Lower Control Arms (LCAs) . He told me they cannot replace the part #10 i am not sure why..This happened on both the LCAs on front ( passenger and driver side).

I am planning to order both and they will charge around 150 for labor..

Here are the pics of my bushings

Thanks

If one bushing goes, that can increase stress on other bushings, which might also require replacement later on. I would just replace the entire control arm instead.
