Not really, the F1 in 235/40/18 is $181 or $198 USD for 235/35/19 (Tirerack). The lowest profile is 30 but that's for wider tires.

Not to hijack the thread but does anyone have pics of this with the stock setup?

Looking for a good compromise in performance and low road noise.

Too bad they didn't test the Fuzion, can't imagine anything working much better than this. If I can't break them free, it's working more than I need
at $120 each.

That said, the ZRI are not lasting that long for me. I've had alignment problems and can't say for sure, maybe a 30k tire.

There is also alot of risk to vehicle specific noise resonances in any
tire/car combination.
I found a tire that I initially liked, the Pzero Nero, was too noisy
and not because of wear patterns. And they are even noisier on our
2004 accord coupe. On another car maybe no problem, no complaints
of noise on Tire Rack.

The Fuzions are very quiet on the TSX and a lot of people here
have said that. That's a plus.
Still think I'm doing the Toyo Proxes 4 next, $122 price one consideration,
going for longer life, and silica tread for rolling resistance and mpg.

I really don't need all that the Fuzion can do and there are other
considerations. Remember this is a max performance summer tire test.
There are other considerations for different people.

Tire PAttern

Is there any reviews on whether asymmetric tire pattern is better or worse vs uni-directional? Eg. Michelin Preceda and Yoko AD07.

I always thot directional is better that inside-outside tire.

Anyone knows which is better?

Thanks

hmmm... how's the cabin noise on the 325i compared to the TSX, because if the difference is significant, then the tire noise levels may be a bit different on a TSX. My opinion, at least.

I did. The noise level is still the same since day 1, which is among the quietest max performance tires.

So is the Goodyear still the best tire to get right now? Any other new tires come out worth getting? I'm looking for a set of 235/40/18 and for the life of me can't decide on a tire :-(

For all the good reviews on Tirerack for a given tire, there are always a handful that say the tire is terrible Man I'm getting confused on what to buy

i don't see why not. they are highly rated by most publications.

i will most likely grab a set of general exclaim uhp's. i am aware of the soft sidewall many users have experienced, however, i believe these will fit my needs just fine.

I ran 235/40/18 Goodyear GS-D3's on my RSX-S... great street tire on and off the track. Good balance of performance, appearance, comfort and duarbility. I'll be going with these on the TSX as well (235/45/17).

Also ran Kumho MX's on the RSX. Great dry traction, but needs some temperature to be at it's best (not my choice for auto-x). Also, after hard lapping days the rubber would bead and get a little slippery. A little loud as tread wore down (which tires aren't?) but I'd still consider it a good value performance tire.

FYI, ratings are good but also worth a grain of salt. I find it hard to believe that most of top rated tires for performance also have the highest treadwear rating. LINK.

ok, so my opinion has changed. i was initially set on grabbing a set of General Exclaim UHP's, but, i've re-arranged my requirements to include cornering/steering response as one of my top priorities.

the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2's have sparked my interest. the surveys seem favorable in tirerack.

based on threads here, i've read that these tires may be noisy.

comments/experiences?

Most of the noise issues people have with the BFGoodrich kdw 2's are people that are running staggered fitiment. If rotated at least every 5k, they should be fine.

anyone that says they're not noisey either doesn't have them or hasn't had them long enough, if you put 7k+ miles on them they'll howl like a banshee... do not get them, don't say i didn't warn you

I have the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 and will admit they are noisy especially on road trips, but not obnoxiously loud at this point. I do anticpate it to get louder as the tread wears down. I have put about 10K miles on them and they still seem to have plenty of tread left. I also like the way they handle in the dry and the unique tread design. I currently use Blizzaks for my winter tires and can not wait to put my summer tires back on. But it looks like we may be getting snow here tomorrow

Edit: The BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 I have are on aftermarket rims tire size: 235/40/18

How do they compare, noisewise, to the OEM Michelins?

these tires have good dry traction but the wet is suspect, they were on my wife's car and she didn't feel safe in deep rain, said they would hydroplane much more than other summer tires we've had.

Haven't used the OEM's since 2004 and only for 2,700 miles. I think the OEM's were more like a hum. The BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 sound more like the offroad tires my friend has on his Dodge Ram, well not that loud, but the noise is similar. They sound more like they are biting into the road.

I think tirerack rated them to highly for wet conditions, (They were rated at 9 for wet traction when I bought them in 2005, I see now they are rated at 8.6). I do occasionally spin the tires on hills from a stop in the wet and notice they do tend to slide a bit more on the curves when wet, more so than the S-03s I used to run on my previous car in similar wet conditions. I haven't noticed any problems with hydroplaning in deep rain, but I will keep that in mind for this summer.

I got them based on the ratings and reviews from tirerack, and the XL load rating. I was running them at 36 PSIs but it still didn't protect the lip on my rims. So now I am running them at 38 PSIs.
