Buddy Club N+ Spec Review and Installed Pics

*Note: Let me start off by reminding everyone that I had the Tanabe Sustec Pro-OC Type II's on the car before this.

Important Install Note: The way these came from the factory, when I first took them out of the box, seemed to be extremely low when I compared them to my already lowered Tanabe's. So I lenghtened the fronts by half an inch before I installed them. After I installed them and put the car down they were still insanely low. So low that I couldn't get the jack out from under the car. I had to put the car down on blocks just to get the jack out and then I had to adjust them right then otherwise I think I would have rubbed if I hit a snail, the tires were tucked at least 1-1.5 inches. So I would strongly reccomend lengthening them significantly before the install. Other then that the install was really straight forward, a big thanks to xizor for helping me out!

Driving Impression:*Remember above note above* Good stuff; they are much more performance oriented then the Tanabes. It is a huge improvment in the corners and that's def worth Bad stuff; I slightly miss my Tanabe's already. I had to take the car into downtown Washington and it was rough. I am probably biased because I had the other coilovers on but these are much more harsh then those. I still need to play around with the dampening though so hopefully I will be able to improve the ride. All in all though, if you want performance you will not be happy with the Tanabe's and these are probably a good choice. On the other hand, if drive comfort was your #1, then these are NOT a good choice for you.

My rating... 7.5/10

Thank you for the great review!
You are giving 7.5/10 for N+?hm..what would you give for the Tanabe's?
(Does Tanabe improve in handling significantly than stock suspension?)

What dampening settings did you start with? I am switching over from Pro-kit with stock shocks - I was hopeful that ride would be as good or better - am I going to be disappointed??

I would give the Tanabes an 8.25/10. And yes, they def do improve the handling from stock. However, the improvement was probably as great from Tanabe's to BC's as it was from Stock to Tanabe's.

what do you want? If you are looking for ride quality you *might* be dissapointed. I'm not 100% sure, never been in a car with prokit and stock shocks. Also, I have realized that ride quality is hugely subjective, so you will have to wait and see.

If you wanted ride quality though, I would def suggest the Tananbe's.

Marketman, PM kaikai114. He had that setup before going with the BC Racing Spec Dampers. I can say one thing though, the car will definitely bounce a lot of less (oscillate up and down) due to the fact that the shocks that come with the coilovers are better matched that stock shocks + the Prokit.

good review Fury, I am loving the Tanabes, the perform better than the pro kit spring combo Eibach spring AND are more comfortable. I'm all done spending money on my suspension.

Just curious, does the Buddy Club come with installation instructions that include the recommended factory settings?

The only thing I could find and understand was there was a diagram for the rear assemblys that showed the body being threaded 20mm into the base. Other then the "20mm" I couldn't understand a single thing on the instructions. There were other diagrams but I couldn't make out anything on them.

Typically, if "ride comfort" is a concern, Buddy Clubs are not a viable option.

Marketmen, back then when I had the Eibachs, they are no where close to the BC Racing Specs I got right now both in comfort and performance. To add to that, with the BC coilovers, you get insanely crisp road feel from the steering, I am very pleased.

Like TSX Fury said, if you're looking for comfort over performance, by all means go with Tanabes, Buddy Clubs are meant for performance tuners. I have my Racing Specs tuned to 1 click from softest up front and 2 clicks from softest rear, and the car rides much more compliant than when I had it before at midrange. The ride is still stiff, but much closer to the Tanabes ride feel than before. And I have to point out, steering feel with the Buddy Clubs are just incredible. Part of the reason why it's crisp is because of the upper pillowball mount.

I love your ride TSX Fury, very clean and damn... it's very low too. Try setting ur shocks to stiffest all around, you'll rip through corners like you're on rails, just not very @$$-friendly

I've tried to search for an english version of the BC manual but couldnt find anything. So I had to turn to my girl, she's japanese, but she doesnt know much about cars, so it dont help much =| The only recommendation on the manual is telling u to keep the car at least 90mm above ground to be safe. One other thing I noticed is, they said these coilovers are only meant for JDM cars, so I am curious if spring rates are different from left to right?

Buddy Club TSX - I would love to get an English version of install instructions for The N+ Spec coilovers. Mine should arrive this afternoon and I am going to install myself. Can you e-mail or do you need my address? Thanks again for the offer - from what I can see on this board, and the assistance you have offered to date, BC is fortunate to have you as an employee!

Really appreciate the feedback - I think I will be happy with the BC's based on what I am hearing. They arrived today!! I was traveling so on my way back from the aiport I stopped and picked them up since they were delivered to the office. I am sitting here at 2 AM having just opened up the box. They look awsome!! Can't wait to install. Thanks for everybody's feedback and special thanks to Buddy Club-TSX for the offer on the english install instructions. Will post review once I get them installed. Think I will try and get some sleep now!
