Benefits & downsides to having higher tire pressure?
I was just reading another post that people who autocross usually go with higher tire pressure like 42F/35R. What are the benefits and downsides to that if we have that kind of tire pressure on the streets?

Benefits: Less rolling resistance (less deformation) >> better gas mileage
Downsides: The middle of your tire will wear out faster than the sides. I still don't see why this is good for AutoX, but I'm sure there is a good reason.

Benefits:
- less rolling resistance, less heating of the tire (I know, its minor)
- higher pressure = more rigid sidewall = resists tire profile deformation under high lateral loads = keeps more of the tread planted on the road surface.
Downsides:
- more rigid sidewall provides less give/flex which tends to give a harsher ride (transmits more of the bumps to the suspension)
