Before... After... and After... (Tein). Need a little help.

This was before i start doing anything ...

This was after i installed the Tein S Springs. Very Satisfied with the height.

And i got the Tein SuperStreet today... I told them to lower it the same as Tein S Spring.. which is about 1.7 inch i believe.
BUT.............

To me, it certainly look like a stock height again.

Is it because the Tein SS i got today is NEW.. and therefore i need to wait a few days for the springs to... "get used" to my car?!?!

Or

Is it because of the stuff that's too heavy in my trunk?!!?

If those two's not the reason, then i will be going back to the shop and get it lowered again.

Thankss!! HAve a NICEEE day....

You should lower the spring perches on the coilovers more. They didn't lower it as much as it was before.

You can do this yourself with the Tein wrenches that came with your coilovers!

The mechanic's didn't even ask me about that.....

Adjusting the ride height is easy as cake. For everyday driving set it at 8 all around this is the standard setting. For sprited driving I would set it at 10 upfront and 8 in rear or 10 all around. I have driven my car at full stiff and with more than 2" drop in front and nearly 2" drop in back the handling is sweet but it is a little bouncy so I set it at 8 all around and it is perfect.

Thanks... i'LL set it at 8 all around too.
and ya, it wun be easy for people like ME. But, anyway, if i want to adjust the ride's height, i will need to lift up the car or something?!?! I think i will even have the problem lifting up the car by myself.

Bah...you're young. At your age, I found ways to lift my car that I can't or won't do anymore. lol

It depends on how small your hands are and how low you want to go. If you're going too low for your hand to fit between your tire and the fender, then you'll need to take off the wheel...and that implies lifting the car.

By the way...it only looks like they lowered it a tiny bit. If they followed the recommended height in the tein manual, you'd have a drop with a 2-finger length gap.

As for the dampening settings, it's your choice. I set it to 1 (full soft) when I have passengers, and I set it to 16 (full stiff) when I want to do spirited driving. Otherwise, I set my front to 14 and my rear to 12 (I have a rear sway bar, and I'll be darned if I don't put it to work =P). That's because I'm more interested in performance/handling than ride quality (but it still feels fine for me). 8 is the middle...if you're going to use 8, you might as well have gotten the tein basics.

I've timed myself. Taking my time, it only takes me 4.5 minutes to switch the setting on all 4 corners. And the reason why it takes so long is because I keep wondering if I missed a click...so then I reset it and start all over lol.

Thanks for the "lecture".
well, as i mentioned.. i want to just go for the same height as Tein S spring. But ya, i think i will still go back to the shop and get it done. (with me beside watching how to) Then i will be able to do it myself next time.

And for dampening settings, i will go with 8 first. Then i will change it as the time goes by .. till i like it.

4...5 mins to do all 4!?!?!?!
i think i will take like 45 mins...lol.

For Tein S Spring with Stock shock..
To me, its rough, but its fine with me. Of cuz, not better than Stock setup.

For the Tein SS. I haven't really have the feel of it yet. because the Height's not right.. and i dun even know what's the setting on the damper now.

Realised that, the back 's lower than the front.

And, i lifted my car, trying to see if i can lower the car MYSELF.

But, nahhhhhhh. Don't know exactly what to do or maybe i will say, i dun dare to. @@

My car somehow looks weird since the front's higher than the back's.

i'll go to the mechanic later.

Why did you get the springs if you were gonna get Coilovers anyways?
You should learn to install things yourself, there's more satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment. Lowering the car is easy, just loosen the two rings on the bottom. One goes counter clockwise, the other clockwise. drop the bottom ring to the desired height and then bring down the top ring and the spring. Tighten the two rings and you're set. It's not worth it to pay someone else to do it

Answer to that is... I m STUPID!! I agree on that.. i had to admit that.

and As i said, i lifted my car, and i did see the two rings. And i dun dare to turn it, scared that the car will fall on me. lol.

Well, i suppose the mechanic will do it for me free since he didn't lower to what i asked be4. Which is to set it the same as the Tein S spring (1.7 front) . . .
For now, i definetly think its not 1.7... should be around like 1.5 or so.

1.2inch = 30mm ehh?!?! (That's from tein's instruction 'book')

turning the rings is easy. Tein gave you forks specifically to do it. Screw the bottom one down a bit, then count the thread rings to the bottom of the lock ring. That'll allow you to lower the other rings to the same level. Then screw the top lock ring down and take the forks and hook them to each ring and turn them into each other to lock them. The car wont fall on you. Also, if they are hard to turn spray some lubricant on them. They will be initially hard to turn.

I did lift up the car again. Tried to turn the two rings both ways. But it didn't even move.

The higher the rings go.. the higher the car?!?!

And i realized something again. And just want to make sure its cool. The two front's height's different. And yea, the two back 's height's different too. @@

Standing in front of the car
- Front right = 10.5 cm
- Front Left = 10.8 cm
- Back Right = 9 cm
- Back Left 9.5 cm
THis is how i measure it with the ruler. The circled area.

yes. they higher the rings the higher the bar. Again, count the threads below the rings so you can get the right height on each side. Then measure, and if you are off a bit then adjust which side is off by the amount. Example; back right is 9cm and back left is 9.5cm that mean back left needs to be adjusted down a half centimeter

Thanksss...for the info tho...

I went back to the mechanic and they didn't charge me on anything...

i told them about the.."uneven" thing mention above. And he asked me if i m on a even surface...
And that's when i remember that my underground parking's not flat..@@
and ya, i told them to lower the front 1/2 inch
Right after that, it look so much better to me again.

And i went to the alignment shop. The guy's measuring something with a ruler-like thing. And he told me something about VERY negative..(about -3.00) which is bad i think.

And since i dun have a camber kit, i told him i'll be back to do the alignment again.

He's charging me $320 for Installing the camberkit (that i buy myself) and four tires alignment..
And if i get ingall camber kit from them will be 120 each he said...
@@ i thought there's people selling those for 150 for both!?!?

Sounds right to anyone?!?

Thanks..

u don't compare stock wheels + dropped, VS. aftermarket wheels + dropped.
plus, as a owner of 06 myself, drop it more if you can.... lol with that aftermarket rim, if u jus be careful when goin upto driveway and etc, no problem in daily driving.

about the camber kit and alignment.
With Tein SS and Camber kit, ~130 should sound right about the alignment. (wheel corner weight balance should be around~ 50~80 bucks)
Ingalls cambers should run around 150 shipped, which is rear only
. personally ,i'd say go with rear only , u don't really need front. waste of $$
and ~90 to install.

Yea, i m gonna get the ingall camber that has 150 shipped.
Probably listen to what u said about just align the rear. (he told me if i get alignment for the front will cost me $30.)
And installation of camber kit, i will leave it for the alignment guy to do it for me.
i guess i m still looking around $300 for it to get done ehh...
