I'm going to live with this for a few days because I don't want to increase the wheel gap, but I'll probably have to make a change.
I still have to finish installing new springs on my RX7 before I can adjust the ones on the TSX. It will be nice when I can go a week without having to compress springs. Of course I guess I could start charging people for installs with my new found expertise. Next time I change the springs on the TSX, I think I will try it blind folded.

I haven't tried to compress them on the car. I thought about it, but there isn't much room in there. It would be tough to get the compressors I have (two large bolts with clamps) on the spring.

i dont think the ride got any lower. my initial guess is that the suspension settled in - but it looks almost the same to me.
i dont ride full soft anymore either. i have my tein flex set on 12, (out of 16, 16=soft) and the ride is lot sportier - and it's still pretty forgiving on the road.

Unfortunately it has been my experience that this set up does not work. Perhaps if your wheels have a higher off set than 45 it won't scrub, but I doubt it. I am currently using the prokit springs on the Koni shocks, but on the highest notch of the shocks. This effectively raised the car half an inch from the prokit drop, and I still scrub on rare occasions. I have H&R O.E. springs on order from Kingmotorsports.com. These have a .75" F and .5" R drop. When I install these, I am going to lower the shock perches 1/4" below the stock height to give me a 1" F and .75" R drop. Not as low as I wanted to go, but I don't want to change tires. In my opinion the 45 series tire fills up the wheel well better. Here are a couple of recent pictures of the current setup.

I think it just appears low because of the larger tires. This is a prokit that has been raised half an inch on the Koni-Neuspeed shocks, so it should look taller than a standard prokit drop.

I agree with Dan. If you are set on Prokits, stay away from the 45 series tire. Especially on stock shocks where you can't raise the perch. The fact that I have neuspeed-koni shocks is the only reason I still have the Prokit springs still on.
I personally like the look of the larger tire. If you want to keep your Potenzas, go with a shorter drop.

If you want to avoid any possibility of rubbing, you can use 215-45-18. This would fill up the wheel well better than the 225-40-18 and I don't think it would rub at all with a +45 offset on a 7.5" or 8" rim.

Okay, I have given up on the great experiment of using 45's on a lowered TSX. I just placed an order for a set of Falken Azenis 235/40/18 (whole lot cheaper than my KDW2's, but I'm looking for them to be quieter). While I can still cancel the order I just want to double check:
My wheels are 18X7.5 (45 offset). Should I order 225/40/18 or 235/40/18 for the best look and, more importantly, best fit?

Thanks Xizor. Just wanted to make sure I did it right this time.
Now, anyone want to buy a set of 225/45/18 BF Goodrich KDW 2's. They work great on a lowered TSX.

Archangelstudios,
Did you by chance put the new wheels on the car before you put on the drop just to see what it would look like? If so, do you have any pics?
