225/45/17 front & 225/50/17 back

Does anyone know if this set-up is safe? I checked the Tire selection sticky thread and it says if the sizes are within +/- 2% difference they should be fine (which both these sizes are). But what worries me is that there is almost 1" difference between the diameters. Is this set up going to work or should I just go with a 215/50/17 front and 225/50/17 back?

A couple of things. First, you're wrong about the size discrepancy. The larger size (225/50) is almost 4% taller than the 225/45's. The difference between them and the 215/50 size is exactly 2%. Second, in my opinion, it would look pretty dumb. I've never been a fan of staggered sizes on a FWD car. I mean..... why?
