16" Steel Wheels and Snow Tires
Has anyone actually tried the 16" steel wheels from the Accord LX V6 for clearance?
I realize that they should fit without any problem and that Tire Rack specifies 16" steel wheels for the TSX. I'm just looking for assurance that they actually do clear everything.
Thanks!

215 X .50 X 2 = 215mm + 431.8mm (17") = 646.8mm \ 25.4 = 25.46"
Winters (205/60/16)
205 X .60 X 2 = 246mm + 406.4mm (16") = 652.4mm \ 25.4 = 25.68"
205/60/16's will fit the car almost perfectly with only a 0.9% speedo difference.

Hi all,
Friend of mine offering me a set of winter tires with wheels (not steel wheels) on only for $600 for 4. However, the size of the tires are like 225/45/17". Do you guys recommend using those sizes as winter tires, will they be able to fit? I need some advise please.

Thinner to cut through snow, and save gas.
Higher profile to take in those pot holes.

$600 bucks for the whole set of tires and rims are pretty tempting...I just ask another shops for quotation on winter tires. They offering me a special package, $790 + tax and those are 16" pacers rims with Kumho winter tires. So, how's the feedback for Kumho tires? are they any good?

I am talking about Canadian dollars. Those tires has been used only for 2 seasons, I went to his place to check out the tires tonight. They are in good conditions, only the rim has a little bit of scratch. I am pretty sure they will fit since the stock rim we had is 17".

If the rims really do fit, then it's not a bad deal...I'd try them on for clearance before committing to them, and one thing you have to consider is that 17" snow tires will be more expensive to buy down the road. The rims should be lighter then the steel ones which is a bonus.

Acura East is Ajax ON are offerring two winter tire packages for the TSX - Toyo or Michelin 215/55/16's on 5 Star steel wheels (painted silver) for $1,100 + taxes. I just priced Bridgestone Blizzaks - dealer recommended same size and the price is comparable (better tire, I think).

Bridgestones offer better snow and ice traction, but they achieve it by using a softer rubber compound. Michelelin's have a harder compound, compromising slightly on traction, but adding to long term wearability.
IMO, if you live in an area where the roads are kept reasonably snow-free during the winter, so that much of your driving is still on ashphalt (like Toronto), go with the harder compound. You'll get extra life out of them.

I decided to go with the Michelins (215/55/16's) for better wear and longer life than the Blizzaks. Total cost from Acura East was $1,040 plus PST & GST.
Wheels look great (five spoke steel wheels painted silver) - for $70 each. I wasn't prepared to put out several hundred $'s for a second set of alloys but couldn't bear the thought of looking at those ugly black standard steel wheels for six months.

Sorry dude but you paid way too much per tire. You got a good deal on the rims for sure though.
And its not really 6 months. December, January, Febuary, March, they can typically come off in April, most years anyway.
