$528.96 estimate for coilover install... HAHAH

yea, so i go to this local place and thats what they quoted me with alignment. without alignment its $387. WAY beyond the price i expected. i was expecting around 200.

i called a local tuner shop but they don't work on cars anymore they just tint windows. The guy told me they used to charge 200 dollars for coilover installations a few years ago. He also told me to try Maxi Muffler or any other brake shop.

are there any good Chain auto shops that can do it for lower than that ridiculous price?

btw, i live in chattanooga, tennessee if there are any tennessian's around here

yeah that is wack. my local shop charged 200 for the coilovers and another 50 to do the camber kit since they were already doing the coilovers.

i just called another place (please excuse my newbiness) i asked him how much it was for coilover installs, he said the its 175 for the STRUTS and coilover...

i asked him, strut? i have the shocks and lowering springs which is the coilover, he said "the TSX had the factory struts on them if thats what you mean, so it would be 175 to install the strut and coilovers"

what the hell does that mean?

what kind of susp. do you have? are you replacing the whole shock, such as tein flex or something along those lines, or are you only putting on coilover sleeves?

seems like the install place doesnt know what they are talking about if they are referring struts and coilovers as separate units.. watch out..

FYI I got my tein basics + camber kit and installed for $880 OTD

I got my TEIN Basic/Eibach Camber kit installed for $240CDN installed w/ alignment, and my BuddyClub Racing Spec/Eibach Camber kit installed for $160CDN no alignment.

I was dumb enough to called Acura dealership and asked for install, they give me a quote for $780CDN w/ alignment, charged for $150CDN/hr labour.

the shop probably assumed u have the sleeve over type coilover.

Why don't u try a DYI. It's fairly simple.

Get the service manual for $70 and do it with a friend. I did the only thing better, got a friend and his service manual.

Expect to pay significantly more for an alignment on a lowered car though. I paid $150 for one with camber kit adjustment, but they guaranteed the work at least. Most places won't warantee the alignment on a lowered car.

I agree with Reach one this one! I still have some scanned images and directions that i gathered from here saved in a Word file i could send you if you want that i used when i did the install with a buddy of mine. Just make sure you rent a spring compressor and if you could get your hands on an impact wrench it will save you a lot of time. Let me know if you might want the info i gathered. It is def MORE info then you need but you can pick and choose what to use. I got stuff from the A Spec install, JTso notes, and a few other random places.

Gotta get an alignment!

What I recommend is Firestone, they have a lifetime digital alignment program for around $150 bucks, covers everything (atleast at my Firestone). So if you do any height adjustments, you can just take it in for an alignment right away without having to pay again.

haha yea, i installed them a few months ago now!! They are finally officailly broken in now and not as stiff as they were at first! Its a little rough over certain types of bumps, but handling is awesome!

Sean - I tried to PM but your box is full. I can send you the install word file i have if you give me your email address. Let me know and i'll send it over to you.

glassjaw - Make sure you get it aligned befor eyou drive to far! I drove mine 40 miles from where i installed them, but since i had it aligned for the eibach prokit already, it wasn't off by much at all. But that is a sweet install deal!! I really liked installing my own cause i was able to lube up all the bolts i wanted to and such.
