kept up with a new civic si

my buddy bought a brand new civic si. we decided to race head to head from a 45mph roll. we both punched it at 3 honks and we were head to head for very few seconds then he had me by a half a car until we hit 110. I thought I would get spanked by the civic si because my car is an automatic. but i also have injen cold air intake, headers and exhast. just thought i share my story.

You got beat by a stock Si and you have headers, intake & exhaust...That's nuts..That little Si kept up with me one day and I was really shocked and I only had an intake at the time.

A stock Si is quicker than a TSX so why the surprise?

He's in a AT.

I beat the new Si as well. I actually took lots of videos on this. The camera man was in my car too. Too bad my hard drive crashed and I lost all my files... I was going to post it too.

Anyway, the Civic Si is a faster car. When I drove it I knew it was faster then my TSX. Too bad my friend isn't that great of a driver (started learning stick on the Si). So I spanked it pretty good =)

Since the Civic Si has pretty much the same power, weight, and tranny ratios (except 6th), it should be equal to an RSX-S (05/06). I don't think the LSD on the Si would make any difference.

With that said, I should be able to take a stock Si pretty easy. I took my co-worker's RSX-S w/ intake and K-pro by half a car -- and he's the better driver since I'm a butcher when it comes to shifting.

A stock Civic Si kept up with me and I was loaded down with groceries and other "honey-do" items. Oh yeah, I was on winter tires too and didn't have my Hondata reflash yet. Of course, I did have CT header, cat back, CAI and RT Cat at the time. But I was on WINTER TIRES. LOL

I've seen him around town and he's done some major upgrades.

As you guys would probably expect, I was able to leave the 06 Si in the dust on the freeway. I have an auto with boost though and he was probably all stock.

No -- this was with only reflash/H/I.

After the gear swap, I wasn't able to run against him again because he was fired...

The si's are still lighter. Given equal drivers, the new si is the faster car.

I raced a SI after paying to the toll on the garden state parkway as we jumped on 280 we bought launched. I was ahead when we launched I couldnt seem to shake it in 1st, 2nd when i hit 3rd thats when I was able too move away.
As I looked in my rearview I saw him with his hazards on pulled over, I think something bad happened
His car was manual, my car didnt have the UR pulleys in at the time. I think since the upgrade the car revs much faster!
by the way i have an AT, unfortunately

The new SI is actually quite heavy, heavier than an RSX-S. The SI is something like 2886lbs.

I had a stoplight experience with a previous-generation Civic Si, complete with a coffee can muffler, rather nice looking wheels, and who-knows what else. My TSX is totally stock of course.

I cleared him by 3/4+ of the car length in 1st. I gained about the same distance through 2nd gear. My 3rd gear was the hero though--in the middle of 3rd gear there was about 50 feet between my back bumper and his front bumper. I promptly let go of the throttle and he eventually went buzzing by, still wide-open. Then he flashed his hazards at me. Yep, I guess he won.
