Kept up with Mustang GT convertible
Finally this week I got my TSX Hondatafied but never had chance to floor it on open road. Today coming home from work I had a chance to feel the difference at the three lane intersection. When I stopped on the redlight, car to my left was mustang gt convertible and I thought "oh no i'm gonna get smoked by mustang if i floor my car at the green.." So when the light turned green I only floored it to 4000rpm and this mustang started racing against me too. To match against him I kept my gear in 1st and rev it up to 7600rpm and shift into 2nd and was able to keep up with mustang gt. I could've beaten him if I didn't hesitated at 4000rpm. It feels good that I didn't get smoked by american muscle. haha

good job keeping up with the mustang.. one question I dont understand tho.. how come whenever a sports coupe or a customized vehicle pulls up next to you at a stop light, you guys have the urge/tendancy to race against them? I would understand if you were 18..

If the conditions are right(clear road ahead, no intersections coming up), its just fun, thats all. I never race in traffic, period. That's when you get in trouble.

its like once a year event for myself. j/k.. i don't usually race and don't have urgeness to race against the sports cars either. this time i had no choice since i wanted to test out Hondata reflash and i knew he was gonna race me if i jump on green because of how my car looks. also thats the intersection where lots of people race from stop since its wide and flat three lane straightway.
i think people with sports cars or riced up cars get offended by how my car looks. they try to race against me when i'm just driving back to home from work. i'm like relaxed and tire from work and these riced up civics and accords tries to street race. i just look straight forward and drive away. haha..

and the fact that your AT means that either that GT is also AT, or your car is really making a lot of power (just look at your mod list...). Any dyno numbers?

Those Mustang GT's only put out 215 or 225 HP depending on the year. Most have 215 with that body style. So stock for stock it only has you by 15 HP most likely. With those mods, I'm sure your putting more to the wheels and you have a couple hundred pound advantage. So if you would have got on it, you should take it fairly easily. Those are just not that fast of stangs.

I Quit
I never street race, been busted to many times. If someone pulls up and wants to go I indulge 1st to 2nd gear then back off, if I can take them that quickly the race has already been won

that mustang may only b rated at 215 HP or whatever but it has twice the torque. I used to have a 95 GT and ill tell you what.. my 95 was a 5.0 and it was just as fast as a 2004 GT which is like 260 HP. all thos freaking cars whether it b a 1989 or a 2004 was the same speed. I was in an organization called "Nightmare Racing" on Long Island there were about 30 mustangs involved ranging from 1988 to 2004 and they were the same speed stock.
but you will never beat a mustang i dont care if you supercharge the car youll still lose.
i used to race my stang (man trans) against my bros 2004 350Z (man trans) and he had no chance

Torque is what accelerates your car. But if you have an engine with twice the torque but the same power, that means at the upper RPM range he is making very little torque. For quick squirts and stuff, torque talks. But when dragging, it's all about the upper RPM range. That's why he kept up.

by the time i was done witht he car i had:
MAC Cold air Intake, mild racing cam, ported and polished intake, Steeda Tri-Ax short throw shifter, MAC 1 5/8" headers, MAC X-pipe, Flowmaster single chamber mufflers, Custom burned chip (from Mustang Magic in Deer Park), increased flow fuel pump, and injectors (dont remember the PSI)
I actually got rid of the car cause i was afraid of losing my license or life.

[QUOTE=dontcare4urshyt]i dont know if u guyrs r in denial or something but the Acura TSX is slow. my license plate reads: SLO TSX[/QUOTE
I sense that you hate your "slow TSX" . From what you are writing about your stang, I reckon you loved it. Just sell your TSX and go back to your beloved domestic. Spare us the " slow TSX" banter.

Stock vs stock the GT will win for sure. But that TSX is not stock. Also, as you can see from those numbers, the GT is as fast as a 02 TL-S AT. As a reminder, the 02 TL-S has 260hp (under the old system, so probably about 248hp with the new system) and weighs about 3500lbs. The TSX has 205hp stock and weighs about 3230lbs. In other words, the TSX has about 40 less hp but also weighs 300lbs less. In terms of %, the TSX has 20% less hp than a 02 TL-S but carries 10% less weight. If I remember correctly, the TSX in this race is a 6MT model, vs the 5AT in the 02 TL-S. Then, just look at the mods in this TSX, I wouldnt doubt if it's making 230-240hp. Also there are other factors such as the driver of the TSX is better at shifting.
Next, I don't care about what clubs you are in. I trust numbers from car magazines more. According to C&D, the new Mustang GT can do 0-60mph in 5.2 sec, that's almost 1 second faster than a 94 Mustang GT. The point is, torque is important, but having the most torque doesn't mean winning a drag race. Take a look at cars in Europe, many cars there are diesel-powered, and they make a LOT of torque, and I mean A LOT. But the thing is, they can't make that much torque at all rpm, and that's they are not making a lot of horsepower. The good thing with that much low end torque is, it makes city driving easier, you get strong acceleration at low speeds and you dont have to rev your engine high to get going. Let me give one example, you know that a S2000 with 240hp and 153lb/ft of torque can do 0-60mph in about 5.5 seconds and 1/4mile in about 14 sec. Given the proper gear ratios, same weight, same conditions, do you think a 153hp S2000 with 240lb/ft of torque can do the exact same thing?

All these numbers. If you are drag racing the 1/4 mile, torque is what gets you off the line and hp is what wins the race. Power = Work/time. So with more power, you can do the same amount of work (moving an x lbs car a 1/4 mile) in a shorter time.

Good Run Man !!! I have raced a few Mustang GT's of that body style. I have a 2001 Acura CL Type S. Im bone stock and I have beat them from a standstill, from a roll they are a joke. Even with some minor bolt ons, they arent that quick .
